We stayed at Hotel Laki for two nights to be near to the stunning Vatnajokull national park.
Having travelled down from Reykjavik via Mount Helka and Landmannalaugur and through Vik we arrived quite late but were met with a very friendly face at the reception and checked in with the minimum of fuss.
The room was modern in design and quite minimalistic but you don't really come to this part of Iceland and spend all your time in the hotel room so was more than ideal for the nature of the trip. The bathroom looked a little unfinished with a plastic casing for the shower, but it was still nice and powerful and couldn't be faulted. We were in the Economy rooms and from a sneak peak the rooms in the main part of the hotel looked a lot nicer for those looking for more luxury.
The breakfast was also good. A blend of continental and scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage for those who prefer a more English breakfast.
The location is great and overall I would recommend the hotel but what made it particularly special was the warmth of hospitality from the staff who were exceptionally friendly.More
