“Ate here twice it was so good”
Reviewed 25 June 2012

A couple of friends and I stopped by upon the recommendation of our innkeeper, a former chef. Our first meal was very good, but we went back the next night with more people in our party and had an even better meal. The wait staff is very accommodating of non-Hungarian speakers and the view of the Danube and surrounding gardens is lovely.

“Beautiful view, lovely food and service”
Reviewed 8 April 2012

A fantastic location overlooking the Danube in the pretty old town centre of Vác. There's a covered outside area and a cosy interior. If you're in Budapest you should come out here- it's a half hour drive (or train ride from Nyugati). The A traditional restaurant with nicely made hungarian fish and meat dishes, and some excellent desserts. The home made rétes (strudel) is wonderful. The service was great too, a good choice for a relaxed lunch or a romantic dinner. Be warned though- like most good restaurants in Hungary the vegetarian selection is poor.

Vác town centre has traffic restrictions, so park in the car park by the open air swimming pool, turn left into köztársaság út, then walk to the town square (250m) and turn left into Tabán útca. At the end you will find fürdő lépcső (swimming steps) and the restaurant.

“Good place, nice atmosphere, very good food”
Reviewed 8 December 2011

The restaurant is situated in downtown Vác, a step from the Danube bank.
In summertime you can also sit outside. The decoration is nice inside, the service excellent and a food really good. It is not a big place so either you reserve a table or you may not have a table especially in wintertime when you cannot sit outside.
After dinner or lunch you can have a nice walk on the Danube bank. It is really worth it.

“Excellent Quality at a Very Good Price”
Reviewed 30 June 2011

Vacz Remete Pince is situated 5 minutes walk from the lovely Vac town square and ferry terminal, just off the Danube, but with a decent view of the river from its attractive elevated terrace.

The menu is extensive and my wife and I each had a main course and dessert. The portions are very large, and I while I like a lot of sauce with my meals, the quantities we had with our fillet steak and chicken dishes was a bit OTT. The meat was very well cooked and tasty. The accompaniments were plentiful and flavoursome. Didn't think I could mange my melon flambe when I saw it but it was so good I was almost licking the plate at the end.

Service was very good and at a nice slowish pace for a relaxing lunch if you are not in hurry.

We paid about £30 for two large portions each, with wine, coffee and mineral water. We were well stuffed but very content when we left

“Delightful stop in Vacs”
Reviewed 14 April 2011

My favourite restaurant in the under rated town of Vacs. Friendly service and good food at reasonable prices. Offer Hungarian meals as well as tourist meals. Minor critcism would be that they serve imported beer rather than Hungarian but that should not stop you dining there.
