We sat on the bar's raised terrace which offered a nice view of the pont vieux. Service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a quarter litre of red wine for €3.50.

We had a drink here a couple of nights running. The beer is the usual French - imported lager - , so stick with the wine. Reasonably priced local stuff. This is a good place to sit and watch people, look at the castle, or listen to the Aude (Aude? Audio? Never mind). The owner is prompt with the first order when you sit down but hopeless at noticing when you need a second drink. I am sure he has plenty of English customers so he ought to know by now that we need replacement drinks regularly and often. We don't do sit and chat with empty glasses. I prefer the English way of going to the bar and getting drinks rather than waiting on the whim of a waiter. Quite stressful at times when you go several minutes without a drink....

My family and I are regular visitors to Quillan where we enjoy our holiday home at L'Espinet vacances. We are at our most relaxed as we sit, usually in the terrace outside.(We were there last week from the 21st March '14 and sitting outside would have required a wetsuit worn under a fur coat!!!)at La Palace bar.The bar is very much a family business,Michel, his mother, his sister and her husband who is the chef. One can buy one's pain au chocolat at the boulangerie and the coffee at La Palace and sit and watch the world and L'Aude river flow past. The coffee here is the best but the lunchtime food is,and we've tried the rest,is also consistently excellent. The menu dos'nt change but there is good choice none the less.Cold salads, really excellent Chinese dishes with noodles or rice, steaks, curries and sometimes,on enquiry a plat du jour.My personal favorite dish is the smoked salmon served with pasta and a very rich cream/wine sauce.Superb!!! wash it down with a carafe of the local wine.C'est la vie.

Great for a quick bite or a relaxing coffee while you watch the river or the people. Large outside seating area overlooking the Aude and the cheapest decent coffees we found in Quillan.

Great location beside the River Aude, large terrace. Property a little run down but very clean. Nice menu with, suprisingly, 5 chinese dishes on the menu. Well presented and tasty. Owner speaks good English, but chooses not to do so (very often). Service can be a bit slow when busy, but what's the rush anyway. Relax with the view and enjoy the food.
