We stayed at the Beach Hotel with family. It was a last minute get away to celebrate my mum's 80th Birthday and I must say that we couldn't have wished for a better hotel to stay in. We hadn't booked any accomodation in advance and upon arrival at the hotel they went out of their way to find us two rooms (both with beach views). The excellent service and friendly atmosphere was matched by fantastic food and good value room rates.

The hotel accomodation has obviously recently undergone a refurbishment and they have done a great job. The public aras are bright and welcoming and the bedrooms are large and airy and if you have a room at the rear of the hotel you will be guaranteed an excellent view.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone looking for a friendly, comfortable and good value hotel.

If you get the opportunity - make a point of staying at the Beach. This family run hotel is a throw back to the days when Irish hospitality, warmth, good service and professionalism in the Hotel and Bar business were common. Unfortunately times have changed but The Beach have maintained all the best of Donegal virtues and Irish Failte. The Hotel is modern well appointed comfortable and is scrupulously clean. The food is excellent really good bar food cooked with a passion. The hotel rates are more than reasonable and is the perfect base for exploring Donegal. I've been fortunate to stay in all the luxury Hotels in Donegal but pound or euro for euro none come close to The Beach.
Go raibh mile maith agaibh Charlie and Mairead.

We stayed here for one night and were treated very well by the hotel staff. We were greeted with smiles and chat, and given a choice of rooms to stay in. The room itself was spacious and clean. The breakfast was lovely, with everything cooked to order. We had a sea view and, although admittedly it would've been better without the caravans, it was still lovely. I'd highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

Spent News Year's Eve and the next night there.

Dinner was excellent at the New Year's Eve party as it was the following night in the bar, which became very full lively with traditonal music later on.

It isn't really a beach hotel, the beach is 100 meters away through a down market caravan park which didn't add greatly to the sea view.

Rooms are comfortable and well finished with large flat screen Tv's.

Mairead and Charlie are really hands on and can't do enough for their guests, and the staff are very friendly.

There is not really a lot to do in Downings in the winter so probably more suited to the summer.

We had a good time but two nights were enough.
