“Excellent Hotel”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

Me and family stayed at the hotel on the 1st of July for a night as we are thinking of having our wedding here and its an unbelievably great stay. As a Travel agent i am very picky with my hotels but this one really impressed me, the customer service from all the family was amazing and couldnt do enough for us. The rooms are spacious very clean and very family friendly. we will definitely be returning to the hotel for a stay and hopefully get our wedding booked here.
Thanks to Shauna and her family for their hospitality and attention to detail

Room Tip: Sea view is a must, room 214 is stunning

My wife and I are just back from a couple of days in this hotel. Our room was perfectly adequate, spotlessly clean and well equipped, the food both in the bar and at breakfast was excellent but what really sets this place apart is the level of service it provides. The owners are very hands on and it reflects in the staff all of whom could not have been more friendly and helpful. If you find yourself in Downings give The Beach a try. You will not be disappointed.

Just back from a really brilliant stay at the Beach Hotel Downnings Donegal, 5 star service for a 3 star family run hotel. Mairead,Charlie and the girls work very hard to provide an excellent service in a spotless hotel. (and we are very fussy) Fab breakfast freshly cooked and served at your table.5 minutes drive away is the most amazing (Tramore Beach) which Mairead suggested to us I would definitely recommend this hotel. These lovely people cannot do enough for their guests. They would even provide the sun for you if they could. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: book seaview room

The Beach Hotel is a gem to visit. Owners Mairead and Charlie are starring lights when it comes to hospitality and looking after their guests. They keep a constant watching eye making sure everything is covered with grade A+ service.

We had delicious food in both the restaurant and bar; and special attention should be made of our waitresses, Ciara and Catriona – they have that rare gift of genuine warmth and nothing is too much trouble in looking after every need at breakfast. Unlike so many average hotel breakfasts, we savoured the freshest fruits, and the chef in the kitchen has the magic touch – everything is cooked to order and beautifully presented. There is care and attention here from the owners and all the staff that you don’t see in other hotels; it’s highly personal and a real tonic. They were all one step ahead in getting things set up for us and going the extra mile to make our stay special. Charlie and Mairead are a delight, wonderful ambassadors for the Donegal region.

Situated a minute’s walk from a beautiful walking beach at Downings, this is a wonderful spot. The environs are magical to tour around. We went for 3 days and it was so good we booked a 4th. And that wasn’t enough. We’ll certainly be back, just as soon as we can. Thanks Mairead, Charlie and all the team for a wonderful visit.

Our 2nd stay here, very warm welcome from Mairead, they obviously love what they do, they seem to be about all the time ( I don"t think they ever sleep). The rooms are spotless as is the whole hotel. Very attentive staff, the food is excellent. Any body who finds fault here would find fault in heaven. We are looking forward to our next visit. Many thanks to Charlie, Mairead, Shona and all the staff

Stayed at the Beach Hotel from the 1st-4th April with my wife and son of 5 and feel bad its taken me this long to write a review. We had a great time at this lovely family run hotel. We were actually the only folk there I think for two of the days as it was low season but the attentiveness of Charlie, Mairead and the others was outstanding and there were always people and a bit of a buzz in either of the bars. Apart from breakfast which was excellent and cooked to order with great coffee, we also ate in the bar one night and enjoyed good hearty pub food. We had a family room with a view which was great - and it was so quite overnight. Ideal for me. Room was modern and spotless. Honestly cant think of any downside to the stay so would stay there again and recommend to others.

Room Tip: ask for a sea-view
