We stayed here by chance as Cucgnan is in a quiet valley, off the main road. Glad we did. Others have described it as a restaurant with rooms, and that's true, but what rooms! If you're used to strange shaped, tiny rooms with mysterious plumbing, then this will delight you, as it's modern, spacious, and really quiet. The rooms are interesting and reveal the touch of an architect. The restaurant is deservedly the main attraction, with a truly stunning setting overlooking vineyards and a wee bit of the Cathar castle Queribus visible on the ridge line as the sun sets. We will remember our meal here for some time, and that's saying something on a trip through this part of France. Cucugnan has some memorable wines, and I recommend you just ask your host to serve you the local producer's offerings. These wines will command your attention. This is a great place to base yourselves for a visit to the two Cathar castles in the immediate area.
