“Cosy, Cute and Classy Hotel.”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

This was our second visit as we were staying in Italy for a wedding and thoroughly enjoyed it once again. Beautiful surroundings right in the town of Portogruaro with the watermill across the road. The staff are very friendly and helpful. One of the best tasting scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast with fresh oranges that you juice yourself on a machine. If you fancy a trip to Venice, the train station is a 10 minute walk away and it takes less than an hour to get there. Fab market on a Thursday morning right outside the hotel.

Room Tip: Room overlooking the watermill. 102 or 202 are great.

The perfect location if you wish to go to Venice. I stayed the night before, paid cheaper hotel prices than if i was in Venice. The rooms were great, the price even better and it was in the most perfect spot of the little town. Walked around, felt safe and everyone was super helpful. I will be back again and again for sure!

Would stay here again and again.
The room was clean and had a lovely view of the clock tower.we felt safe and well taken care of by the staff, they spoke good English which was very helpful. the parking lot attached to the hotel was safe and secure.
We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was so delicious and very romantic too.

I travel for 90 days a year and don't write reviews but this was a very good small hotel and the town is more than you would expect from the size with good bars and a very good restaurants.
Look on the map - park just across the Parco della Pace in the big car park, avoiding the small one way and streets.

The Spessotto is THE place the stay! We lived in this small village for almost four years (in the military) many years ago. Have had the pleasure of visiting four times over the last four years. The hotel is located in the center of the walled village, across a small street from the canal that runs through the city, and right around the corner from the (should be as famous as the one in Pisa) leaning tower of Portogruaro. Rooms in the hotel are perfect, food is great, and the staff is like family. Thanks again for a wonderful time & more great memories.

We arrived as part of a cycle tour, the room was spacious and on the top floor towards the front of the hotel. The double sized spa was just what we needed after riding all day. The room was modern and recently renovated, air conditioning worked well, the cable tv channels had italian, german and english language stations. The bar and restaurant downstairs provided friendly service and even a free welcome drink as well. The meal was generous and enjoyed by my wife and I. The breakfast was typical italian buffet with a selection of fruits yoghurt pastries ham and cheese. Overall a very pleasant stay

Room Tip: second floor at the front had a lovely spa bath, no view but very quiet and spacious

This hotel is family owned and family run. As a result there is none of the impersonal service that you tend to get from the major hotel chains. Instead everything is done efficiently with a minimum of a polite smile.

Although the rooms are compact they are not lacking, with the exception that there are no facilities in the room for coffee/tea etc.

My stay was for 4 days and breakfast and evening meals were very good, although occasionally all the breakfast buffet items were not all present at the same time.

That aside, this hotel comes with my full recommendation. I would certainly not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: Some single rooms are very small. If this is a problem then let the hotel know at the time of bookin...
