Going to Stirling Lodge has become an annual event that I look forward to each year. The staff are exceptional and delightful. Accomodations are comfortable and food is good though the menu is limited. It is a true canadian fishing lodge that caters to groups of any size. The lodge is reasonably priced wth the American Plan (3 meals included) making it a great value.
The setting is breathtaking with access to several lakes that offer terrific fishing. While they have a fleet of boats to rent, I take my own 18 footer up each year, which can be a manageble challenge to take in and out of the water since they do not have their own launch area. If you bring your own boat, you will need to use the public boat ramp which is a short and easy drive from the lodge. It's best to have someone assist you with one of you taking the vehicle and trailer back to the lodge and the other person driving the boat over to their docks. Some of the rooms offer outdoor lockers near the dock to store your gear so you don't have to take it to your room. Simple idea but very convenient.
Only an hour from the border making the drive easy and managable from Pennsylvania. I recommend getting a detailed topo map of the lakes to keep you out of the shallows and rocks . . . and from getting lost. It also helps you find the hot spots (humps, drop-offs & channels).
Bottomline, I enjoy my annual visits to the lodge and would recommend it to those who want an Ontario fishing experience.
