“Comfortable Fishing Lodge”
Reviewed 4 September 2013 via mobile

Going to Stirling Lodge has become an annual event that I look forward to each year. The staff are exceptional and delightful. Accomodations are comfortable and food is good though the menu is limited. It is a true canadian fishing lodge that caters to groups of any size. The lodge is reasonably priced wth the American Plan (3 meals included) making it a great value.

The setting is breathtaking with access to several lakes that offer terrific fishing. While they have a fleet of boats to rent, I take my own 18 footer up each year, which can be a manageble challenge to take in and out of the water since they do not have their own launch area. If you bring your own boat, you will need to use the public boat ramp which is a short and easy drive from the lodge. It's best to have someone assist you with one of you taking the vehicle and trailer back to the lodge and the other person driving the boat over to their docks. Some of the rooms offer outdoor lockers near the dock to store your gear so you don't have to take it to your room. Simple idea but very convenient.

Only an hour from the border making the drive easy and managable from Pennsylvania. I recommend getting a detailed topo map of the lakes to keep you out of the shallows and rocks . . . and from getting lost. It also helps you find the hot spots (humps, drop-offs & channels).

Bottomline, I enjoy my annual visits to the lodge and would recommend it to those who want an Ontario fishing experience.

I go fishing in the Rideau Canal (adjacent to Stirling Lodge) and have been doing this for well over 20 years. I've been staying at Stirling for about the last 5 years and the place is ideal for fishermen. They also have rooms for couples that are gorgeous. ALL of the staff members are super - they cannot do enough to be of assistance. Stirling has docks for boats, rental boats and it is staffed with great people. Their prices are very reasonable and I will be going back again this summer.

The only minor thing is they need to expand their menu. The selections are few and if you stay more than a few days, it is repetitive.

All in all - it's a GREAT Lodge
