“Best Weekend break EEEVVVEEEERRRR”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 October 2012

I visited Wilsham house (self catering) on the weekend and enjoyed it immensely! I visited with many friends (19 in total) and was balled over by how much the owner bent over backwards for us (especially as he had an injured back). Easy to find although it could be missed if lacking in concentration. I had such an amazing weekend and have made very special memories that i will cherish always, Thank you sooooo much, we will be seeing you again soon.

Just thought I would drop a few lines after a smashing wknd at Wilsham Farm House. I had booked the annex and another pair of rooms in the main farm to accommodate the 20 (2 pulled out at the last minute) of us that went. At the end of a long very narrow lane lay the farm complex. Plenty of room for parking we were met by the owner Richard. Very accommodating from the start he just left us 2 it, he gave us a very quick and pain free run down of the place, shown us how to use the pool and said 'enjoy, you know where I am If you need anything'. And that was that, very trusting.

The property itself had great spacious rooms for all the couples and there were no complaints from anyone. Top tip, if you have a young one think twice about sleeping above or below the main living room, the floors are creaky and it can be loud if you're in a boisterous group.

Also there was a vey strange corridor type room that resembled an army barracks, not really a room but random beds placed end on end along a wall. I thought this might be a problem but the kids loved it even more for its unique quirkiness. The kitchen had more than enough utensils to make meals for all 18 and a long huge communal dining table we all sat round for meals. It was a great area for chatting and playing evening board games. Lots of chairs in the large living room again made it easy for the grown ups to congregate once the kids had gone to bed.

The jewel in the crown though was the superb pool, big and warm and the kids were left in pool heaven.

All in all, superb value for money, very country and homely, rooms for all family types, fantastic pool and set in beautiful countryside. Absolutely no complaints from one of us. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Wilsham Farm from 9th until 13th Sept . It was everything we wanted from a short stay break. Our bedroom was lovely with the added addtion every day to the tea tray of homemade flap jacks which were lovely and moist. The breakfast was just fantastic including the special fruit and homemade bread. Our host Richard was such an interesting, comical man with so many true stories under his belt how could anyone be miserable (even on a rainy day)? We would definately like to return. Thank you Richard and Jane for everything.

Immediately you meet the owners you are made to feel welcome. The bedroom was lovely with fantastic views over the valley. A very pretty and comfortable room with lovely crisp cotton bedding. Breakfast was served in the large conservatory overlooking beautiful scenery and the food was superb, plenty of choice for cereals, with fresh fruit and one of the best cooked breakfasts we have ever had . Plenty of tea and coffee in the bedroom and the owner fetched fresh milk for us rather than the dreaded packaged long life milk one usually gets. Fresh cookies were also provided. We shall definitely stay there again and thoroughly recommend it for a welcoming peaceful stay in lovely countryside with hosts who could not have been better.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay with Richard and Jane. The location in Exmoor was fantastic - we felt thoroughly at peace in the countryside but were only a 5 min drive from Lynmouth (with its pretty harbour and the Rising Sun pub). There was also a herd of wild ponies grazing nearby!

The farmhouse itself is lovely. Our room was large with lots of attention paid to furniture, furnishings, etc. An extra touch worthy of note are the tasty flapjacks - everything here is personal and there are no mass produced elements common to so many hotels, etc. We also had free use of a sitting room and the conservatory were breakfast was served.

Breakfast was a real treat - wonderful views and a delicious breakfast (creamy scrambled eggs, thick bacon, and all the usual to an excellent standard).

A special note must be made to how accommodating Richard and Jane were with our baby (use of rooms, heating food, etc.)

Many thanks and certainly recommended.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Wilsham Farm. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our bedroom was really large and even had a separate sitting room as well and a bathroom with a bath and a shower.
The breakfasts were amazing and we loved the home made bread and the flapjacks in the bedroom.
We spent the time enjoying the walks from the farm and also had a couple of trips to the beach. Even though the weather wasn't brilliant it just didn't matter as we spent time in the beautiful conservatory and read our books.
We will definately return as it wash a truly special place.
