“The perfect base in Interlaken”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

My family enjoyed a short stay at the Beau Site in July. We were absolutely delighted with the friendly, helpful service received and the quality and value of the meals. Right from the start, we were welcomed with professional yet friendly old-fashioned "service with a smile". Nothing was too much trouble. We had perfect views of the mountains, gardens, paragliders and eagles from our clean, fresh, light filled 2 room family suite, (complete with kettle, tea/coffee and small fridge). From the Hotel it was just a short walk into the town proper and only a couple of minutes to the Interlaken West Station. From here, we ventured to Jungfraujoch, Trummelbach Falls, Murren and Grindelwald. On Sundays, a magnificent brunch is served (breakfast was great every day though) and evening meals consisted of an a la carte menu or set menu which represented fabulous value and was top quality with fresh produce. If you did not venture out for the afternoon, tea/coffee/hot chocolate and cake were served in the comfortable and restful lounge with magnificent views out to the mountains. Plenty of room for children in the gardens and there is a small playground. Peace reigned supreme here! Thank you sincerely to all at Beau Site for a wonderful stay - we will surely return!

Large bright rooms, lovely gardens and mountain views. Comfortable, not over the top. Quiet and friendly. Breakfast is excellent - Asian and European. Free afternoon tea. Tea pot and small fridge in the room. Friendly staff and great internet, away from the main street -- just a few blocks across the river from the Interlaken West train station. Fotos on website are accurate. And there ARE chickens roving in the back yard!

Room Tip: Top floor, facing the garden is very quiet.

We only stayed here for one night but will stay longer next time. The staff were very helpful, the room spacious and the breakfast good. The hotel is very close to Interlaken West station.and the shops and restaurants on Interlaken.

We returned to this hotel after a good holiday last year, & the quality is consistent. Rooms are generous size, with comfortable beds & good size bathrooms, with bath-tubs & over showers which always deliver hot water.

Breakfast is a super buffet, designed to the international taste (various rices & curries and fruits available along with eggs/bacon, cereals and everything else one could want for breakfast.
On Sundays their famous "Brunch" from 9am to 1pm includes all these items together with champagne and pancakes for residents & is also open for public service meals.
Evening dinners are very much to the English taste, and comprise 4 generous courses, with service from 6.30 to 9pm which means no rush back to the hotel for a short dinner availability slot.
Afternoon tea & cakes are provided for guests on the front terrace in good weather which we much enjoyed, together tables in the shade of a very large tree which the sun was high. There is a bar but this is a very quite residential style hotel, much suited to families.

The hotel is on several bus routes (stops a few yards from the hotel) & it is only 5 minutes leisurely walk to Interlaken West rail station, adjacent to the Lake Thun steamer boat station.

The staff are all seem happy in their work & several have been with the hotel for some years.
Young Sebastian & Ivonne on reception are both a real asset to the hotel & make a great team. Warm welcomes and ready smiles are given to all guests together with a very high level of help & care. When we arrived my husbands case lock seemed to have jammed and Ivonne volunteered to go thro' all possible combinations to try to free it, but sadly with a lot of time effort without success, but Sebastian soon found us tools to get it open.

The room staff do a great job, quietly & efficiently everything was attended & checked everyday, & bed linen changed twice during our week stay as the weather was very hot & humid.

The hotel garden is an absolute joy & you should try to fit in a few hours sitting out amongst the flowers & to watch the chickens, geese and rabbits in their pens. A fascinating robot lawn motor constantly goes about cutting lawns to keep them in good order amongst the many flowers.

Room Tip: For super mountain views, ask for a front room, but these also face the road. Back rooms are quiet...

The good:
The hotel is clean and well-maintained. All the staff (save for one rather grumpy waitress) are impeccably polite and helpful. The rooms have hot running water and the sheets are clean. There is an impressive selection of cable and radio channels available in the rooms. If you are English-speaking, you'll find more BBC programs than you will find American networks like Fox or Starz. The in-house restaurant is also excellent and reasonably priced for Swiss standards. The whole aesthetic reminds one of a relative's lodge. There are board games and books you can help yourself to whilst waiting for whatever reason and there are always refreshments. Simple snacks like pound cake are also available from 2-6pm in the afternoons. I was given a room with a spectacular view of Jungfrau in the distance.

The bad:
You can hear everything when guests in the floor above are walking around in their rooms or galumphing down the stairs. If you are a light sleeper, this may be important to you. Like most establishments in Europe, there is no A/C, so if you are there in the height of summer, you are going to suffer if the small table fan they provide is insufficient. I had a lot of trouble with insects in my room. Both nights of my stay, I was bothered by very large spiders, cockroaches and beetle-looking bugs. They may have been drawn by the flowers at my window sill, which I had to keep open (this is where A/C would have avoided the problem) or they could have come from the nursery opposite the hotel entrance. The potted plants in the restaurant whilst very quaint, mean you'll be spending a lot of time during your meal swotting winged insects away. I had a minor heart attack when a green fly with an oil-slick looking finish landed on my arm during dinner. It was huge.

On balance, the hotel is very conveniently located if you are using Interlaken as a base before going up Jungfrau. I actually prefer Interlaken West (less than 5 minute walk from the hotel) to Interlaken Ost. It's more quaint and the distance between both stations is negligible if you are reasonably fit. This is a family run establishment, so it's more of the creature comforts of home you'll be experiencing, rather than some snazzy set up with strobe lights and modern furniture. If you show up expecting the usual comforts of the Hilton or the Mandarin Oriental, you are going to be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the hotel reception, it will be facing Jungfrau. Sunsets are spectacular.

I recently stayed at Hotel Bueasite, Interlaken and found to be excellent. The front office staff are very supportive!. The rooms are very spacious and has an excellent mountain view. The bus stop is just 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast is very good.. Main shopping area Interlaken west is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

I would strongly recommend this hotel.
