The two star Rössli hotel is a five minute walk from Interlaken West transport interchange, from where you can easily access many of the attractions of the beautiful Bernese Oberland using the excellent integrated Swiss transport system.
Be aware that the hotel does not have a lift, that's a reason why it`s a two star hotel, so if you have a problem lifting heavy luggage, you would be advised to book a room on the first floor.
The hotel will provide you with an ID slip for the free Wi-Fi and a visitors card that enables free travel on the buses and trains within Interlaken and provides reductions for local attractions such as the Harder Kulm funicular, which is only CHF14 with the card instead of CHF29, and it provises other discounts on local shopping services.
The reception staff are excellent, very friendly and eager to help their guests enjoy their stay. Christopher (who speaks six languages), Nadine, Barbara and Caroline are able to apply their extensive local knowledge and will help plan individual itineraries, supply tickets, recommend your best options if the weather is less than sunny, and suggest ways for you to save money on your excursions. Their patience and dedication to these tasks would be a good example for other hotels to follow.
On this occasion I stayed in room 34 which is on the third floor with shared bathroom and shower. This was no problem and it only involved a short hop across the landing to the larger toilet and shower room that was very clean. Room 34 had a quaint window shape, the sort you would imagine a cuckoo to emerge. On opening, you could look across the rooftops to the mighty Jungfrau Massif, breath in the clean mountain air and listen to the relative silence of Unterseen. The room was clean, simply furnished, had a very comfy bed, a wash basin that dispensed really cold fresh drinking water - never mind the Evian - the Rössli ought to bottle their own! Also there was a multi channel TV to keep you up to date with the latest dystopian nightmares in the real world and the room was serviced daily with pleasant cleaning staff.
Breakfast at the Rössli is continental style, so don't expect any 'full English breakfast' fry-ups. However, they do have some nice locally sourced ham, cheese, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereals, boiled eggs, breads, a toasting machine, croissants, jams and fruit juices. Hot coffee or tea is served at your table by Nadine or Hassan and they don't mind you asking for refills. I detected a slight change to the ambience in that Jean Louis's eclectic mix of self recorded soothing background music was missing, although he is still around to welcome his many returning guests and to offer advice.
The hotel has a ground floor bar/lounge with TV, DVD player and there's a mini library with books in several languages. There is free tea and coffee available from mid-day to 22.30. Also on the first floor is another lounge with TV, DVD player and an array of children's toys.
I see from the latest Euro-stat figures that Switzerland is now the most expensive destination in Europe. Well, at the Rössli they do allow you to bring in your own ingredients or fast food from local suppliers and use their kitchen facilities, microwave, cutlery, crockery and eat in or outside on the terrace. However, they will recommend local reasonably priced restaurants if you ask.
They also have a pay as you go laundry facility and car parking is free.
Across the road from the hotel is a newsagents, pharmacy, good value pizza restaurant, bank ATM and Post Office. About a hundred metres away is a well stocked Co-op where you can buy drinks, sandwiches, snacks, fresh fruit and Swiss chocolate to sustain you on your hikes in the local mountains.
I recommend you give the Rössli a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies offer the best views of the Jungfrau.

I just spent another week at Hotel Roessli and another magnificent week it was. It is always wonderful to see everyone there. Christopher and his wife Nadine are so welcoming and amazingly friendly, and I love how they are so willing to help with plans and ideas for Interlaken and places nearby. Barbara and Caroline, the receptionists, so easily share their smiles. Breakfast was enjoyable as usual with Hassan taking care of us – with his speaking Arabic the hotel seems to have every language covered. And Jean-Louis still comes by from time to time to extend a warm greeting to the many guests who return each year – he always makes me laugh. Yes it was another delightful stay.

We had booked two rooms for six days in this hotel. The management recommended that we exchange the two rooms for the apartment on the top floor of the hotel. While the hotel has no lift, we were in Switzerland on a hiking vacation so we did not mind. There was an wonderful balcony looking into the Alps, excellent for a sit in on a rainy day. Location was a 5 min walk from the Interlaken West railway station and a minute from a COOP supermarket. The apartment had all the facilities (fully loaded kitchen, beds with all clean linen, towels, toiletry, 42" LED TV, AC). Hotel staff was very co-operative and had all the information we need to plan our hikes. I strongly recommend this hotel with the qualification that you do not mind not having the lift. Note that only the apartment has the AC.

Room Tip: Apartment on top floor.

We have been holidaying at Hotel Roessli for 30 years and always enjoy our stay so much so, that we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. The owners their family and staff are fantastic hosts and always so helpful.
Last year we were presented with the golden key award from the Interlaken tourist board, in recognition of our many visits and stays at the hotel. it is a wonderful resort with so much to see and do that you are spoilt for choice and its so easy to travel around from place to place.
We love it so much we are already planning our next visit and are looking forward to our fore-coming trip later this year.

It had been12 years since we stayed here last. Mr. Admirat senior, we knew had retired several years ago and the Hotel was now operated by his son, Christopher and his wife Nadine.
We were wondering, before we arrived, if the hotel would hold the same charm?
We needn't have worried at all. It was wonderful! The staff could not have been more helpful. Our bags were taken to our room for us by Christopher himself.
We had left our decision to call in Interlaken on our way to friends in France, rather late. Only weeks before we actually arrived. We were so pleased that after some re-arranging, they were able to fit us in for the few nights either side of their National Day on 1st August.
Unfortunately, they only had a standard room left, no 27. The room was great. Plenty of room and well fitted out. The bathroom also was great, with a fabulous view of the church and the mountain Harder-Kulm situated behind the hotel. If this was the 'standard' room, the others must be spectacular.
If you decide to stay here, please book in plenty of time and try to have a room with a balcony and a view of the magnificent Jungfrau mountain which towers over the town. Also, the 1st of August is the time to be in Interlaken. From the morning, in the grounds of the casino, you have folk entertainment. dancing, flag throwing, alpine horns, all with people in national costume. The afternoon has the 'carnival' procession led by alpine cattle complete with large bells on leather belts around their neck. Even 'William Tell' puts in an appearance. Early evening sees the children's Lantern display on floats on the river. The night ends with the most spectacular fireworks display you are ever likely to experience.
The hotel is only a short walk from the town centre and is in a quiet area. There is a bank and chemist opposite, and a small supermarket a stone's throw away.
In the hotel, you can help yourself to coffee or tea from the kitchen from 12-00 noon until 10-30 at night! There is a bar if you prefer a drink and tables around the side and front of the hotel where you can sit and enjoy the views of the mountains and watch life pass by.
Breakfast was traditional buffet with fruit juices, local cheeses, local meats such as ham etc., bread a plenty and cereals.
Christopher and his wife Nadine were the most helpful hosts I have ever come across. Nothing was too much trouble. Indeed, sitting just outside the hotel reception, we could see just how helpful the staff had to be. They were constantly attending to queries about time of trains, boats, busses, best place to visit, when to visit...... Christopher was a 'Tourist Advisor' as well as running the hotel. You see just how helpful they are when 3 people turn up at 11-00pm looking for somewhere to stay, and he spend a great deal of time trying to find them somewhere as our hotel was full. Many an hotel would just have said, sorry we are full, but not here.
We hope to return here again, as we had forgotten just how charming Interlaken was. And without doubt, we will endeavour to stay at the Rössli. It makes the holiday much better when you have a great hotel and wonderful, friendly people running it.

Room Tip: Rooms with a Balcony and a view of the Jungfrau mountain are the best
