“good onsen and amazing food!”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

The onsen here is pretty good. Not only they have the outdoor onsen like jacuzzi style and the look the of a regular swimming pool with a tiny water slide for kids. It was snowing when we were at the outdoor onsen, it was absolutely magical.

The indoor onsen clearly states the temperature of each pool which is amazing. They also have the smaller cold water pool for you to dip in for the "three internal of cold and hot".

The food in here is great too. It's a buffet style and you get plenty of choices of both japanese and western style food. The food is definitely above average than regular Japanese hotel buffet. The beef is highly recommended!

The room has the regular tatami and 2 western beds. The bathroom was small as usual but I've never used it cause I've been using the common bath for the onsen.

Room Tip: Pick the side with the mountain view. It's much nicer!

Stayed a night in Daini Meisuitei with my family of 4adults.
Was debating between a stay at this hotel or the sister's hotel, Meisuitei which is about 15mins walk away.
Decided to stay in this hotel because of the outdoor swimming pool.
Booked a room for 4 adults. The room comes with two single bed and a tatami area where they made up another two tatamis for two extra adults.
Bathroom is very small with the toilet and small bathtub and sink all squeezed together in a confined space much like a Toyoko Inn's bathroom.
This is one of the few hotels that offers a checkin at 2pm instead of the standard 3pm and a later check out at 11am.
The checkin was fast and the male reception checking us in spoke good English and is very friendly. He even gave us a 5% discount off the room rate when we paid in cash upon checkout the next day.
We got a non smoking room on the 9th storey.
The whole of the 9th storey of this hotel is non smoking but the non smoking rooms are on a first come first serve basis although you can put in a request when booking.
The meals we had were both buffet style.
Breakfast is a bit tastier than dinner with freshly baked breads, waffles, pancakes. There was also Japanese breakfast selection consisting of rice, porridge and the traditional Japanese condiments, miso soup and some egg dishes.
The hotel tries to offer some innovative dishes for dinner. They had a deer meat stew and some Genghis Kang hotpot that you select the ingredients and cook in individual pots yourself.
I like the mushrooms and vegetables Shabu Shabu hotpot best.
The onsen offers some interesting baths. Besides the usual therapy baths for common ailments, there was a walking bath where you have to walk round the longish bath with the lower body submerged in the hot spring water.
What I like about this hotel is the restful environment where the hotel is situated.
Our room overlooks a river and it is nice to open the windows a little before you sleep for fresh air and wake up to the sound of the flowing water.
If you wake up early enough, you can even take a walk along the river.
We had our own car and there were ample parking in front of the hotel but I notice that the hotel does provide pickup to and from Sapporo for those that don't drive.
I will go back for a stay again at this hotel. It's a nice and relaxing getaway a short distance from the busy city of Sapporo.

Room Tip: Get there early if you want to secure a non smoking room.

You can make your way to this spa, using the free shuttle service (2:30 - 3:00 hour drive) from the Sapporo Bus Terminal, that is right next to the Sapporo JR Station. The shuttle must be booked in advance.
The room we had, is a typical Japanese onsen Western style, with two beds, TV, fridge, etc. The traditional Japanese style room using futons is available at a higher price. As for the buffet dinner, it should appease the most discriminating palate. With sushi, dumplings, pasta, noodles, steak, sea food, and the list goes on, good luck with sampling all. If you get to the dining room prior to opening, you should be able to reserve a table of your choice
And the buffet breakfast will too be considered to be quite appetizing to a Western palate. One thing to remember is that alcoholic and soft drinks will incur an additional cost, though there is a free drink bar available with coffee, tea, water, and a small assortment of juices.
As for their facilities, they have two extremely large segregated public hot spring spas, indoor co-ed heated hot spring pool and a very large co-ed outdoor hot spring pool. And if you are tired of being wet, you can always go for a walk along the river, play ping pong, there is also a games room, or visit the other spas in the area.

The one major issue I have, is that the public hot spring spas are crowded during the day and evening. Best time to hit them is late in the evening, well after dinner or after midnight - then you can have the spa almost all to yourself.
Issue #2 is the Departure time from the Sapporo Bus Terminal to the Hotel, and the Departure time from the Hotel to Sapporo Bus Terminal - there is very little time left with a one night stay to do a little hiking and visit the nearby hotels that are part of the chain that Yumoto Dai Ni Meisuitei belongs to, and take advantage of the shared privileges.
Be forewarned, that English is not widely spoken in these here parts. This hotel is in an isolated area, therefore, very little shopping. And no Tipping - fantastic.
To really have a leisurely time here, you need to spend at least two nights, if it is within your budget.

Would I recommend this establishment: Definitely
Would we return: Yes, though we would go for two nights, instead of one.
