“FREE small informative venue with short video, toilet and clean inside.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2013 via mobile

We thought we were coming to a larger "Viking Centre" as advertised, however kids (aged 4yrs & 8yrs) were a little disappointed to find a small "Orkneying saga" building with not much inside for them. The adults did enjoy a short video presentation along with informative info boards explaining the ruins behind the building. The kids enjoyed running around outside and climbing in the boat. Good for a quick look round and was free but needed something for the little ones to do whilst adults looked round.

“If you go looking for the Viking Centre you won't find it, its called the Orkneyinga Saga Centre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2013

And you need to find it because its an excellent little centre. Self guided tour with detailed information boards, film telling the story of the Sagas and the Viking Earls, you press the button to start it so can watch it at your leisure and its free admission. The adjoining Earl's Bu is worth a visit too.
