How is it possible that I have not reviewed the Singer Sporthotel!? It must be that I tell absolutely everyone I know that it's the best hotel I've ever stayed at; that the staff greet you warmly by name as soon as you walk in the door (without asking who you are); that they and all the other staff do the same every day; that you're given ample attention by the same waiter at dinner every night; that the food is delicious, the bedrooms luxurious, the view is magnificent, the spa decadent and serene, and the entire experience sublime. Yes, that must be it.

This is a traditional hotel, decorated in Austrian style. The hotel is ideally located on the pistes and easy to reach by car and one hour trom Innsbruck airport. Everything about the hotel is just nice, the reception area, the bar, the restaurant, the apres ski bar. The swimming pool and sauna area deserve special mentioning. Really very special.
We had a very comfortable family room with a fire place and overlooking the ski piste. You can get your skipasses at the reception area and ski rental is next door so everything extremely convenient.
Breakfast and dinner are very good. Half board includes a really good six course dinner every evening. This by itself makes it worth staying here. A very nice and affordable wine list makes it complete.
But more special than anything is the service level in this hotel. Extraordinairy and rarely seen nowadays, Without any exception any member of staff go out of their way to make the guests happy. I could mention many names but two deserve special recognition. The first one is one of the head waiters, Herr Klaus who made our breakfast and dinners a little party. He made great recommendations for (Austrian) wines and truly was the ultimate host. The other one is Herr Johannes, responsible for the lunch and apres ski bar. A very busy person but extremely hospitable.
The best way to show our appreciation for this hotel is that we have already booked for 2015.

Definitely the top address in Berwang, which is such a picture-postcard-perfect Alpine village. We loved our stay and felt pampered and well cared for. Loved the spa-facilities and treatments. The hotel is relatively new, so all facilities are up to date and still sparkling! Our room was generous and well appointed and had a fantastic view of the valley and mountain ranges. Internet speed was tops! Dining was a special pleasure each day and the service was overall excellent. Would definitely recommend the 'Halb-pension' which in includes dinner. Clearly a well managed hotel with high standards that measure up to my five-star experiences.

We stayed a week in the Singer hotel in August with our children and it could not have been better. The welcome, the staff, from the reception team to the chambermaids were all friendly, polite and helpful, and it is always lovely to be greeted by your name each time. Our room was huge, with a fabulous bathroom, a separate children's room and a walk in dressing room/ wardrobe. The food was delicious, both breakfast and dinner with a great choice for breakfast, and a changing menu at dinner. We loved the pool with a fantastic view across the valley to the mountains. Berwang is a small village on a plateau but close to Garmisch, and to Neuschwanstein, with lots of stuff to do in the area. We particularly enjoyed the downhill scootering, and the summer toboggan run in a nearby town. Most of all, we enjoyed walking from the hotel with sticks and rucksacks provided by the hotel. We have just finished the home made jam that we were given as a present when we left. We would love to go back again.

The Singer family always work hard to please. The table waiting staff as well as the chambermaids are local and charming. Stayed half board for 1 week, food was close to best 5 star fine dining and service excellent. Berwang is a quiet village and offers good walking opportunities in summer as well as family winter skiing.

Only problem is I am still trying to figure out why Austrians need two separate single downy covers on their double beds - some form of birth control maybe??

My wife and I spent 5 nights and 6 days at Sporthotel Singer and it comes recommended. We booked half board, so breakfast and dinner were included. It is located in Berwang a small village close to the German border in Northern Tirol.

When we arrived we were greeted by the staff and by young mr. Singer. The hotel is family run and the Singer family greets all guests personally. We were informed that we had been upgraded from a normal room to a suite. The room itself was spacious, clean, luxurious. The bathroom was equally spacious and cleaner than I have ever seen a hotel bathroom.

Breakfast is varied and very well done. A chef cooks eggs the way you want them and there is sparkling wine for those that like it. In the evening there is a five course meal, consisting of choice between: two soups, two starters, a salad bar, three main courses (fish, meat, veg), and a desert. The wine and water you don't drink on one evening is available the next evening. There were some interesting combinations, like Tuna with blueberry's and buttermilk, which tasted really good (which I hadn't expected, but I am adventurous). Main courses like Iberico Porc, Deer steak all were excellent. The menu is available in French, German and English and they remember our preference. We always were seated at the same table, but change was possible when we asked to sit with a couple we met there. Room service was quick and efficient and the same price as having lunch in the Spa or elsewhere in the hotel. We didn't have dinner in Gualt Millau awarded restaurant.

The staff was very friendly, they tried to know our name and room number, so they didn't need to ask. They have a good sense of humor, but politely waited until we made a joke. There was a welcome cocktail before dinner on Sunday where the drinks are free and the Singer family was present. When we had questions about the hotel, the surroundings or to book the Neuschwanstein castle, they were helpful.

The spa was nice, luxurious and very relaxing. It also offers some places to retreat together in the garden, without being close to other people and a silent room inside. The gym was very well equipped. We didn't use the sauna, which was a shame. Spa treatments were very good, but had to be booked well in advance. The Spa is located on the other side of the road and connected through a short tunnel.

Some nice touches were the backpack and walking sticks that could be used during the stay. There was fruit and water in room on arrival and an iron and ironing board was brought up to the room.

The average age of the guests was well over 40, we were quite a bit younger. Many were French, German, American, Austrian and Swiss. For the young people there is one minor warning. Wifi in the hotel reaches a 1Mbit/s maximum to the outside world. This is very limited and has to be shared with other guests. It is great for surfing to find local destinations, do Facebook and a bit of e-mail etc. but not great for streaming video. It seems the hotel doesn't deserve blame, because in many villages in Tirol this is the maximum that is available.
