“Great stay”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

We stayed here for one night and it was great,.we were very welcome by the staff of the pub and directed to the hotel area, again made welcome.shown to the Weston suite which was clean, large and welcoming.great bed with canopy large bathroom, considering the age of the place it was really clean( small area in b/ room could do with new grouting) food and dring in the restaurant to the highest of standard for the price and lots of it.breakfast was plentiful and not at all rushed ,good quality produce and served with a smile!!!! For the price, we had a great time and wouldn,t hesitate to go again.even told about which towns had markets on when we left. When we arrived there were workers( who again were friendly) fixing the heating in another room, when I came to take a bath the hot water wasn't,t working but within minutes, the reception had it fixed .would really recommend this place to anyone, but leave room for me!,,,,,,

I didn't stay at the hotel but called in for food. The place we were going to go had a long wait so decided to come here on the off chance and were very pleased.
Food was lovely and not overpriced, wide selection of drinks and staff were attentive.
Will definitely come back!

Only stayed for one night, however the food is very nice, but if you are tall and i wish the staff would think about this, don't put someone down in the restaurant with the low beams who is tall and likely to bang their head when there is plenty of room in the upstairs restaurant, a bit of common sense would have been useful.

The hotel is really clean, the rooms were lovely and i believe that they are currently being refurbished, unfortunately we had no hot water for a shower in the morning, but hot water out of the taps which was quite strange.

Breakfast is ok, everything on hand that you would want.

My husband and I stayed here in May 2014. We were really pleasantly surprised and on our subsequent travels in the south of England we didn't find equivalent value for money in our accommodation. The food in the quaint pub was very good and the service excellent. While the rooms need a refurb (and apparently this is happening) they were spacious and clean with the bonus of having an iron and ironing board included. The breakfast was substantial and delicious and included in the reasonable rate. We would definitely recommend the White Lion.

Visited here on 12th June a friends leaving meal, plenty of room outside in the sun, when I went to the bar I had to duck under the beams a close ouch. But all in all the place is well presented, we had food and drink which was on the table quickly and very tasty, I did not feel the prices were anything other than I would expect to pay at a place like this and were comparable with other places I visit, so all in all a good pleasant place to vist.

This is a good pub and the large outdoor area is great on a sunny day but I just think it is overpriced for what you get. The food and service is good but for the same price at somewhere like the hand and trumpet you would get a lot better. On the other hand the Elephant in Shavington is more affordable also with good atmosphere. Also the Hough pub since it changed hands has good affordable food.

We visited The White Lion following a recommendation. It was a fairly quiet, wet afternoon and it felt a little chilly indoors despite it being early June! The decor is lovely, just the sort of place we love to visit. The beer was good and the food was reasonable. The crispy falafel was a little dry and the haricot beans in the quesadilla would have benefitted from another 5 minutes' cooking. It was very tasty despite that. The staff was very pleasant and the service was good. Will more than likely pay a return visit.
