Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel & Country Club

I've now been on three spa days here and I will certainly be going again.
I've used groupon, wowcher and amazon local and haven't had any problems.
The hotel is in the countryside and its a very pretty place.
The staff are friendly and very helpful.
The pool is very good. Sometimes its closed or partly closed due to swimming lessons or aquarobics but they always let you know when you arrive.
The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are just perfect - everything is well maintained.
There are plenty of hairdryers and even a vanity room with big mirrors and hair straightners for you to use.
There are lots of little touches that put this spa above the others - towels, soap, lotion, and shower gels are provided. Also a spin dryer to dry your swimsuit.
The restaurant is a bit pricey as you'd expect but the cake and coffee is amazing. They also do nice scones with jam and clotted cream.
The only downer would have to be hostility from a few of the members. I think they believe that day payers shouldn't be allowed.

We spent a night in the mews (room 222) very quiet room, excellent quality! Staff were very helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was amazing; fresh cooked waffles, eggs cooked whilst you wait...lovely coffee!
Spa area was very good - we didnt have any treatments but the pool, sauna etc were all very nice.
Grounds were really nice to walk around...
All in all an excellent break (non-golfer)

Room Tip: ROOM 222 in the mews

Group of twelve former colleagues met for o/n reunion. Lovely setting, beautiful old building, smashing Mews room (No. 123) but that's where the positives ended until breakfast next morning. Evening meal - a pretentious menu which overstated what was on offer; namely a fussily presented dinner including pretty starters and sweets but 'twas all style! Mains were okay if a little bland and service just about adequate. A couple of times we had to ask more than once for items as the staff seemed not quite able to cope with the number of diners. Our room rate made the dinner okay for value, but meal price was expensive if you were only there to eat. Breakfast was really good, chef on hand to cook eggs and waffles in front of you, but organisation poor as our friends were asked to sit in the bar whilst tables were relaid. The young staff worked hard but the anxious older employees gave them a torrid time in front of us as more and more guests were directed to wait. Could have been brilliant, but hotel needs to sort out service and food for dinner and improve organisation at breakfast. £160 for double room, BB&EM.

Stayed over Sunday evening, playing golf on either course Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. The golf on Sunday was slow with a lot of society groups playing, Monday was better. The hotel is nice if a little sprawling. All of the staff we had dealings with were friendly, knowledgeable and happy to help. Dinner and breakfast were excellent.

We recently had lunch here, and it was appalling. In fairness, we were given it free of charge after we complained, but it caused embarrassment and we would much rather have paid for a lovely lunch, since we were celebrating the birthday of someone who had been very unwell. We had to ask for soup spoons, serving spoons, condiments etc. The vegetables were raw rather than crunchy. When we did get sauce we were given one tiny little pot between 15 of us, and looked at astonished when asked for more. The beef was brisket that had been cooked the day before. And the price would have been 18pph. I am not usually someone who complains, but this place really does not deserve custom unless it pulls its socks up. I don't blame the staff. There were too few of them, and one lovely 16 year old girl had been left alone to serve us. I bet they're only paid minimum wage too.

Stayed for 2 nights with my wife (sunday/Monday). Lovely historic building with efficient service and excellent food.
It would be easy for such a large and historic building to show signs of negelct but it was lovely to see well tended gardens and all rooms and communial areas very clean and in good repair.
Normaly we would eat once in the restaurant and then eat either a bar snack or somewhere else, however the food was so good we went back the second night.
Only slight issue was that the room was a bit warm. (Not hot enough for us to complain though)

Would not hesitate to recommend!

Room Tip: We had one overlooking the gardens, was a lovely view to wake up to.

Just returned from the wet and windy weekend. We stayed on the golf package option - D B&B plus two rounds of golf - and extended using Marriott points. The setting is superb and the grounds were very well maintained. The staff were very welcoming - apologised for no upgrades being available to us as Marriott members but offered us a move for our last night - perhaps we should have taken it! The fine dining restaurant was superb with tempting choices on all 3 courses but the serving staff were perhaps a little stretched so not very attentive - there were Golf Club dinner events on as well - but the Maitre'd was apologetic and personally facilitated the coffee arrival at the end of the meal! Wine very pricey though. Breakfast was superb - buffet style with a very efficient and friendly egg, waffle & omelette chef - coffee service was sluggish though.
The main area of disappointment was the room - very tired furnishings - the coffee table looked as though it had come from the local pub! The bath was clean but chipped, repairs had been done by bodgit and son! - and the basin although clean was very marked. Housekeeping responded quickly when a new kettle was required (lid kept popping off so it didn't switch off) The saving grace was the view over the beautiful gardens of a morning.
Golf shop staff were very helpful and accommodated changing tee times without fuss on a couple of occasions. The golf course is well maintained. The spa staff were very helpful and the massage was super. I agree the pool is small but as it was half term we had expected it to be busy - steam room and jacuzzi working well!
It was a good break but fell short of usual Marriott accommodation standards

Room Tip: If you have the opportunity ask to see the room first - you might be able to change to one less &quo...
