“Excellent meal at Roosters Bar at Morley Hayes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2013

This is the first time we have been to Morley Hayes. We had a meal at Roosters Bar on a Saturday Evening and can highly recommend it. There was a nice atmosphere in Roosters and the surroundings pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was cooked to perfection. We will be going to Roosters again in the not too distant future.

Visited with friends to celebrate a birthday

Began with champagne breakfast, great service and good food. Moved on to Spikes Bar to watch the DCFC v Forest game whilst the girls sat on the balcony overlooking the first tee. Then moved down to the bar and spent the rest of the afternoon and evening in the garden with wine and snacks

Recommended!

Dear Simon

That does sound full day!

The gardens are lovely and we are big followers of football. Being mid way between Derby and Nottingham it can be very vocal when we screen the football in the Spike Bar!

This hotel impresses from the moment you arrive. The receptionists are very professional and courteous. I have stayed quite a few times and every room has been immaculate. Scrupiously clean, very well presented and nicely furnished and decorated. Clever, thoughtful touches abound in the rooms, like proper sofas and coffee tables, dedicated luggage storage areas where a full size case can be laid down fully open, and automatic lighting when cupboard doors are opened. Many rooms have terraces or balconies with stunning views over the rolling Derbyshire countryside and the immaculately presented golf course.

Rooms are spacious, and bathrooms very well appointed. The impression is one of quality being put before cost. The rooms at Morley Hayes are truly a nice place to spend time.

I also ate at roosters bar - service was again excellent, and the food both good quality and good value. It is essentially pub grub (there is also a restaurant) but it is done well. I initially worried that the quantity of dishes on the menu meant that the freshness and quality might be compromise, but my fears were unfounded, with all four of our party impressed.

Breakfast is also excellent, with efficient, polite and unintrrusive staff, and some nice touches on the menu such as egg white omelettes.

In the interest of balance, asa I realise this is a glowing review, there must be some bad points? Well, Roosters was full, but we only had to wait about five minutes before a table became available and was swiftly cleaned and reset - who can criticise a bar for being full because everyone knows how good it is? Other than that, I am struggling to think of anything I would change.

This is one of my favourite hotels, and at the price I paid was excellent value for money. All of my colleagues also love it and look forward to returning.

I believe the hotel is privately owned - the chains could learn a lot from this establishment. Great customer service is a term often used, but not as frequently understood and delivered. Morley Hayes understands great customer service, underpinned by clear investment in a quality infrastructure, value for money, and superb quality displayed in food, drink and the golf facilities.

I am not suggesting there aren't better hotels in the UK, but they key point is I don't know of any better hotels at this price point - truly excellent, and my compliments to the hotel manager who has excelled.

Dear Neil

Thank you so much for the great review following your stay here at Morley Hayes. Roosters is very busy indeed. We are however having an extension built this spring to provide more tables. The full Roosters menu is also available as room service and as you will realise there are dining tables in all our bedrooms should you fancy watching TV whilst eating

Went here for my mums 80th with family group. All was good. The room was a little crowded and some other groups had young children running around, - this was not a big problem but I think they could spread out a little given the price and market they are looking to. Food was all good and service pleasant. Would go again.

This hotel was faultless the bedroom and bathroom were immaculate. The beds comfy, I had Molton Brown toiletries in the bathroom. The restaurant and bar were great. To echo some of the other reviews I cannot speak highly enough of the place. The Marriott nearby is drastically inferior to this lovely hotel. Very friendly staff as well.

Stayed here after organising a corporate golf day for a number of my clients, the service and accommodation were first class. Great breakfast, spotlessly clean room. would definitely recommend whether its a golf break or business trip, everything at Morley Hayes is first rate and all staff go out of their way help and ensure your stay is pleasant.

Room Tip: Lower rooms do have limited mobile phone signal.

Dear John

Thank you for your review of your stay here at Morley Hayes Hotel. It is good to hear you had an enjoyable time.

The mobile phone issue is a problem in all the surrounding area. Vodafone is ok but O2 is patchy. We have superb fast internet in bedrooms and public areas, and free, so if that helps please log in next time you stay.
