Reviewed 8 February 2014

We stayed here in between Christmas and the New Year, having found the Hotel purely by browsing the Internet!

It was excellent and has renewed my belief in British hoteliers, having been recently subjected to some quite poor examples of hospitality at high prices. A local relative confirmed our opinion that this was the better choice over another multinational chain nearby.

The room itself was extremely comfortable with a lot of space for work and storage and the F&B offerings were impressive, We had dinner in Roosters and the food was fresh and tasty with masses of choice; the formal restaurant was closed that night, but it would have had a hard act to follow.

Many room rates here include breakfast, so it's not a quiet calm affair! We were on a room only basis, so I would say have a cooked breakfast as the continental option is expensive for what you get in comparison. The waiting staff were a little overwhelmed, but not to the detriment of breakfast.

The Hotel was a little noisy on Saturday night as members of a wedding party came back, but that wasn't the Hotel's fault. We also found a double charge on my credit card which was re-credited immediately but were not informed about it at the time.

I would highly recommend and go back to the Morley Hayes; it's not cheap but the staff are great and you get what you pay for! What more could you ask for?

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review of Morley Hayes Hotel. We are delighted you had a most enjoyable stay. I must apologise for the confusion on charging your credit card. I am at a loss to explain what went wrong but relieved it was sorted out quickly.

Frequent visitor to this hotel and never disappointed.either for parties or just for a meal it's great!but the best bit is the hotel. I live less than 10 miles away but often stay the night for sheer peace, quiet and relaxation. The breakfast is amazing and the staff are second to none.

A family-run business that gets it SO right when it comes to customer service and investing for the future. Brothers Andrew & Robert have built a seriously high quality abode which is so rare in the UK and particularly the East Midlands. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and almost America resort-style in their furnishings and bathrooms. Proper powershowers, adjustable aircon and big balcony doors that open to fill the rooms with fresh Derbyshire air! I stay here 1-2 nights a week on business and all the staff are genuinely friendly, accommodating and interested in you 'feeling at home'. Breakfast is superb and 'Roosters' - their onsite bar/restaurant - offers a wide range of lunch and evening meals (& is always packed come rain or shine). I've stayed in all types of room and all are of a high standard and comfort. The local council just needs to get on and grant the planning permission for a fitness and spa complex. I can't fathom any reasons why such bloated bureaucrats should get in the way of such a gem of a hotel. Further luxury facilities can only increase the visitors to the fairly subdued Amber Valley area just outside Derby.

On behalf of all our staff and brother Robert, I wish to thank you for a lovely report on trip advisor

We all work hard to ensure our guests enjoy their stay here and it sounds like you have experienced staying here several times.

The planning is an issue here in the Green Belt. However we have just obtained planning permission to extend Roosters Bar so I think there may be light at the end of the tunnel!!

I stayed at Morley Hayes Hotel during a friend's wedding which was held in one of the rooms at Morley Hayes. Morley Hayes were faultless in their handling of the wedding and the service I received as a guest at the hotel was exceptional. The rooms were very comfortable and breakfast was excellent.

The whole experience was fantastic and I would recommend anyone to have their wedding there or even just stay in the hotel.

We recently held our wedding reception at Morley Hayes and had the most magical day, it was a small family wedding and we all had the best afternoon ever. Each member of staff we had the pleasure to meet was friendly and nothing was too much trouble. From the initial enquiry, to being met on the day, the fabulous food and the attentive staff, not to mention the fantastic Christmas decorations all went towards creating that magical atmosphere.
We stayed overnight in the hotel and wow what a fantastic room, we were blown away by it and the breakfast the following morning was excellent along with the menu choice and food, not to mention the staff.
We had wonderful comments from our guests the following day about the venue and food which
just shows what a great venue this is,

New Year at Morley Hayes was as expected. Good food and spectacular fireworks at midnight. Plenty of parking and no crammed in as some hotels do.
Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a celebration without constant loud music and people pushing past. Dancing if wanted was in the next room. You could hear each other speak and the whole evening was most enjoyable.

My wife myself and a couple of friends attended the New Years Eve party and was wowed by the venue and by the stunning Christmas lights, as we drove in.
We had the buffett meal, the food was excellent and plentiful, whilst eating our food,we had the pieprs come, which added to the atmosphere of the night, the bar staff were excellent and to top it all was the great finale,"The Fireworks" What an extravaganza, no expense spared regarding the fireworks. A massive well done to the hotel and organisers. I will look forward to coming next year
