Visited this lovely Inn at the end of a very wet walk. We were a party of 2 adults 2 teenagers and one very dirty Labrador. I popped in first to check if they allowed dogs and made a point of saying how dirty we were (muddy to say the least). The lovely lady at reception so welcoming and ushered us in (we did leave our boots outside out of respect).
After getting out of our jackets we found a lovely low seating area and enjoyed yummy sandwiches with generous portions of pommes frites.
Will definitely return. Hopefully much cleaner next time!

The rooms are nicely furnished and clean, yet there was a strange smell. The bed is comfortable.

The soundproofing, however, is really terrible (bring your ear plugs). The walls are paper-thin and I could easily hear every word of the conversations in the next rooms or even just people passing by (squeaky hardwood floors). The shelf space in the bathroom is tiny

Breakfast was good and many items are made to special order. Yet, the service was not very attentive and slow. It seems the hotel does want not to waste any food (which is good) except for bread - I never ordered any bread but like every guest I received at least 4 slices of toast, one regular croissant and one chocolate croissant.

In general, the service seems poor. When we arrived the reception desk at the entrance was empty as all staff seemed to be working the dining room. After 5 minutes of just standing there and waiting, we went into the bar to get somebody's attention. I noticed a similar situation in the morning at breakfast when people tried to check out. The waitress who is also the receptionist, preferred to stay in the kitchen to chat with her colleagues. My colleague went in there twice to tell her that people were waiting at the reception desk not to mention us waiting in the breakfast room to order some coffee/food

For a business meeting we were looking for somewhere to enjoy an evening meal before hand and then carry on with the actual meeting the following day with breakfast and a light lunch. From the moment we arrived we felt very looked after. Every detail has been considered and even special presentation equipment sourced and brought in for the meeting. The food was excellent and the people warm, attentive but not over the top. They ensured we had a very effective meeting and we will most certainly be returning next year. The price was affordable and it felt like very good value for money throughout. Oh and the superior bedrooms are of very high quality too.

You'll be disappointed if you don't get a newly refurbished room so make sure you do. There is a big difference in luxury and standards between the two.

This hotel seemed to be 'almost there' in terms of perfection but I would say the staff seem keen to please and no doubt in time they will iron out many of the little things that don't seem to quite strike the right note.

The room, once we upgraded to the superior refurb was lovely. Beautifully decorated. Ample space, nice bathroom.

The food was probably the hotel's biggest selling point. The dinner was exceptional. Probably the best king prawn linguine I have ever eaten. The breakfast too was outstanding. Everything you could wish for and more. Quality was clearly a high priority and there was no cheap mass-market sausages to be found on the menu here.

As mentioned - there were little things that could be improved so don't expect 5* plus, but for a cozy weekend away in the country with nice bedrooms and fine food, you can't go too far wrong here.

Room Tip: Make sure you choose a refurbished room

Stayed for one night and as it happened to be Halloween the children, 11 and 14, older but still into halloween, were disappointed at being away from home, and missing being able to go out trick or treating...but the staff at the hotel were all dressed up and the children were given witches hats, sweets and treats. They were made very welcome in the bar, and enjoyed the attention from the owner, count Dracula and his ghoulish team! The atmosphere was extremely welcoming and we ended up chatting to locals around a large open fire.
The interconnecting rooms were ideal, and we enjoyed a very nice meal in the restaurant.
Great village, lovely friendly pub and comfortable accommodation!
