“Hole in the wall with a welcome surprise!”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

We happened upon Captain Capers Fish & Chips completely by surprise on our way to Donelda's Puffin Tours, which we thought was amazing, in Englishtown, Nova Scotia. It definitely exceeded our expectations, with fresh ingredients, homemade condiments, and great service. One person in our party was gluten-free, and Captain Capers was exceptionally helpful and accommodating. We got the fish and chips which were outstanding! The homemade tartar sauce is a must add! It was a great stop, which we are glad that we took!

“Fresh Fish, Fun & Friendly”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

Before you drive on to the Englishtown Cable Ferry, grab a bite to eat at Captain Capers take out. The red painted tables and tree stump chairs add a festive feel to this delicious fresh fish restaurant. The chef and owner, Mo, creates his own secret batter that makes his fried fish and seafood hard to beat. When he asks you if you want his special tarter sauce, kissed with a touch of curry, be sure to say. "Yes!" You can spray on your own malt vinegar and have Mo throw a handful of sea salt on top of your order to round out the flavours of the food at this " must do" Cabot Trail eating experience.

“Great Fish & Chips”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

We stopped here as a family after fishing in the Bras D'Or lake. We crossed on the Englishtown Ferry & up the road in Englishtown was Captain Caper's Fish & Chips at the side of the road. The fish & chips were great & owner was most humorous.

“Great fish (clams and scallops) and chips shack!”
Reviewed 15 August 2013

We had the best fish'n chips and scallops'n chips of our trip to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick here. Fried clams were also excellent. Our group tried everything on the menu. Fresh seafood and real potatoes. Great hospitality and ambiance at this outdoor diner too. This was recommended to use by John and Rose Pino of Baddeck's Outdoor Store and Broadwater Inn. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for fish/clams/scallops and chips and local colour!
