“Time for a refurb”

Visited on a Groupon voucher and it was great value for money. On the positive side, clean, warm and friendly. On the negatives, very outdated and overpriced bar charges. The rooms had nice towels and linen but the furniture and bathroom were well overdue for modernisation. Comfortable bed and central location, though there isn't a great deal to do in Alyth it is a good base from which to explore many other Perthshire locations. We had dinner which was plentiful and tasty (if a little overcooked) and breakfast was first class. Won't be back but in fairness this is due to location as well as hotel condition

Short break for myself and my wife. All very good and great value though we never used pool and gym
Pity about the review below re not being dog friendly. If people want dogs they should live and dine at home. I hate being in accomodation where dogs have been. Dog owners may not be aware but it is clear to non dog owners that their canine friends have been there. My daughter has a dog which we often look after. Neither my daughter and ourselves would consider taking the dog to a hotel to either sleep or dine. It is most inconsiderate to other patrons. If I had thought for one minute that dogs were allowed we would not have stayed there.
Yahoo to the hotel. Keep up your policy.

Went on a Friday night for dinner - Food was good -Portions large. Service was good even though the place was very busy. Ordered the special for both starter and main - well cooked and tasty. Friend had the burger - it was huge, he said it was tasty.

Nice little hotel with very friendly staff. No it's not a modern 'spa' hotel but for what you pay it is extremely clean and had everything you need. Our room was obviously recently refurbished and had a nice en-suite too. The food was good and we slept very well. If I was passing this way again I would have no hesitation in staying, if even just to see the huge array of lamps they have on display, I've never seen so many:)

We have just returned from a great overnight stay in the hotel with our dog. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and can't rate it highly enough, the portions are more than ample and the quality of the ingredients are second to none. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We visited a couple of bars with our dog and the locals couldn't have been friendlier. All in all an excellent trip and one we plan to repeat for a bit longer next time.

Booked a 4 night stay with our 2 dogs as visiting friends in the area. On arrival we were initially very pleased with the hotel and our room which was spacious. The food is very nice and the staff are friendly and helpful. Our only issue was with the dogs. We were told the only place to eat or have a drink with the dogs was in the public bar next door as the dogs are not allowed in the hotel bar/lounge/eating areas. Which also meant you had to go out of the hotel and walk next door to the public bar - luckily it wasnt raining. We only went in the public bar the first night as it really wasnt suited to our needs, it is a small bar with darts, pool table and limited seating. We ended up on a bench type seat in the way of lads wanting to play pool. I questioned the 'dog friendly' arrangements and was told that we would have to put the dogs into our car if we wanted to eat or have a drink in the hotel bar/lounge area as the dogs were also not allowed to be left in the room alone, this also applied at breakfast time. The manager very kindly waved this as the policy had not been explained to us on booking and is not on their website. The manager recognised the issues surround thier 'dog friendly' policy so hopefully this will be addressed.

Stayed here for the weekend with groupon deal. The food was excellant and staff very friendly; we decided to eat there on the second night mainly due to limited alternatives. The hotel is old and this is reflected in the decor however our bedroom was more than adequate, clean and very warm. There is not much to do in Alyth itself so really need a car to get around during the day. On the Friday evening we went to a pub up to the right of the hotel pass the supermarket. It was very traditional and had a good selection of malt whiskies. On the Saturday we found a pub through the square and to the left. The music was really good and the singer was amazing well worth a visit. We enjoyed the break but not somewhere we would go rushing back to. Although it may be different in summer if you enjoy walking.
