We have just returned from a very nice stay at the Milton Hill House, the service and accommodation were completely adequate the only problem we had was with our evening meal, I can honestly say it was the worst we have ever had in a hotel, completely over cooked and not very well presented at all, other guests had returned food and we considered doing the same but our problem was really with the quality of food we were given, again breakfast was tasteless, It is such a shame as the place is in a lovely setting and staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main hotel look better than the garden wing

Enjoyable overnight stop while visiting the area. Ate in the hotel and had a very pleasant meal with friends. Don't be mislead by the view of the hotel for the accommodation - rooms we had were what you would expect but in an ugly concrete annex block to the rear of the hotel - confusing enough to find that you needed a map. As the accommodation was in the annex wouldn't have been great if it was raining and. A pain to get to the leisure facilities. Breakfast was very nice - but why has no one solved the riddle of self service toast in hotels. Overall a good stay and wouldn't mind staying here again

Dear Guest
Thank you for leaving your review.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay however I would argue that the leisure facilities are really quite easy to find and whilst the exterior of the garden wing is not as we would like, I hope you would agree that your room itself was clean and comfortable.
Regards
Gavin

This is a De Vere Venue Hotel just a couple of miles off the A34. We stayed at this very busy hotel one night only on a Sunday. Quick and efficient and helpful staff at reception, which was the experience we found throughout the hotel.
The rooms were well laid out. One could eat in the bar or in the dining room. We ate in the dining room which was very good. Would try the bar next time as menu looked equally as good.
This was a bargain as it only cost us thirty-nine pounds for the night. Breakfast was extra (small charge), if we had stayed during the week it was much much higher, but still well worth it. It also had a leisure centre within the hotel as well.

Stayed here after a lovely day out in Oxford, the room was adequate but tea and coffee facilities were in the other building and both machines weren't working. Leisure facilities were fine but the restaurant food and service were very poor as it took half an hour to get a drink and order our food, the waitress didn't know anything about the menu and to run off twice to find things out, plus we both ordered fish and chips and when they were served we had to return one because it was tiny and the batter was soggy. Don't think we'll be staying here again.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.
I am sorry you had a less than enjoyable experience in the restaurant. I have today addressed both the food quality and training issues with my Food and Beverage Manager as well as my Head Chef.
Both have taken steps to ensure improvements are made immediately.

Gavin

We recently stayed in 2 Gables twin rooms - 306 & 307. They, along with room 308, make up Gables Cottage, which is 3 quiet, ground floor rooms in a separate small block just across the Italian garden. The rooms were clean, well presented and reasonably spacious. The hotel is a lovely building, inside and out, in a peaceful location. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The bar area was comfortable with a nice terrace overlooking the grounds. We didn't dine in the restaurant in the evening, but breakfast was of a good quality and plentiful. All in all a good hotel and we will hopefully be visiting again before too long.
