We only stayed here one night - our party of three shared two rooms - both very nice, comfortable, and spacious. The shower was great, the mattress extremely comfortable and, although there was a right riotous crowd in the pub on Saturday night, we couldn't hear a thing from the comfort of the rooms (they are in a separate building to the pub itself). The staff pointed us in the direction of the riverside walk to Lyme Regis and we managed it in about half an hour. A really pleasant walk. When we walked back at 10pm it was pitch black so a torch is absolutely essential if you prefer not to take a cab, but it was great fun, even with some very wet and windy weather. After a day's fossil hunting, eating and drinking we were completely knackered and retired early - which was a shame because there was a fantastic atmosphere in the pub and everyone seemed to be having a blast. The owners seem lovely people and the breakfast was just what the doctor ordered - plenty of coffee, fruit juice, cereal and a full english! Smashing.

Room Tip: We had rooms 2 and 3 which appeared pretty much identical.

Just got back from staying a couple of nights at the Talbot Arms, this was our second visit there. It is a lovely place to stay, great private accommodation and good service. Breakfast was lovely and Steve was very helpful in recommending places to visit. Previously we stayed here for a couple of nights when attending a wedding at River Cottage and we all enjoyed our visit then too.
We definitely recommend here and will hopefully return ourselves when visiting the area again.

Room Tip: All rooms are in a private block at back of pub

The Talbot Arms in Uplyme is a first class pub that serves outstanding food and excellent local real ales. The warm welcome from Steve and Wendy and their friendly and helpful staff makes you feel special the moment you step inside. The meals are all home made (try the steak and ale pie!) and the meat at the Sunday Carvery is the best I have ever tasted, all sourced locally. Steve and Wendy are superb hosts and are always organising fun events from which they have raised many thousands of pounds for charity over the years. In short, this is a first class pub run by first class people!

Ever since I discovered this great little pub some years ago, I've made a point of visiting this gem of a place whenever I am in the area. The welcome is always warm and friendly and the locals make you feel at home. The food served is real hearty home cooked fair that never fails do satisfy my appetite. The mouth watering beef I had from the Sunday carvery is the best I have ever tasted. They have a good selection of local ales on offer and a fair selection of wines too. I have thoroughly enjoyed the times I have visited this pub and have recommended this place to many of my friends.

Just returned from a two night stay with my two daughters. Stayed in cottage no 3. Room was spotless, breakfast faultless. Location is perfect for the riverside walk in to Lyme. We will certainly be returning. What a refreshing change!
