Camping nearby we had two meals on two separate nights. Excellent food home cooked. Plenty of choice on the menu with a specials board, great beer ...otter ale....and very lovely staff. We will return.

Friends had recommended The Talbot Inn for the last few years, we stayed for two nights and we had a great time, the rooms are clean, tastefully decorated and although near to the patio area you can't hear anything. Steve' s cooked breakfasts certainly filled you up. We ate in the bar both nights, home cooked food, I had steak & ale pie which was one on the best I've ever tasted ( almost as good as mine). The young staff team were polite, friendly and professional. I can't wait to visit again.

Had two nights here last week. The Owners, Steve & Wendy are really friendly and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. Great selection of food and Real Ales at the Bar, and also free Wi-Fi. It had a friendly atmosphere and was popular with both locals and visitors, and we were made to feel welcome. Located just a twenty minute walk out of Lyme Regis, this is a great place to stay away from the hustle & bustle of the town. Room was clean and well decorated, with Laura Ashley furniture, Flat screen TV, Tea & Coffee facilities. There’s a small outside courtyard at the rear to sit and enjoy a drink. There also a Car Park for off road parking. The owners have put a lot of effort into this place and it shows. Would happily call in again if passing by.

We recently stayed at The Talbot Inn on our way home from Devon and couldn't believe our luck. We had booked 3 rooms for our group and have to say we couldn't decide which room was the nicest. The rooms are at the back of the pub and we were able to enjoy a drink sitting in the pleasant courtyard between the rooms and the pub. We were pleased we had asked Steve and Wendy to reserve us a table and no wonder the pub is so popular with the locals, the meals we ordered were all delicious and would have satisfied the largest of appetites. Breakfast was again really tasty and Steve was more than happy to cook whatever we wanted, sorry we all decided on a different breakfast Steve! We have to mention Saturday evenings staff as well, all young people but what a team. Congratulations to you all at The Talbot Arms

Hi Susan C,

Thank you for your lovely review! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay - it sounds like you must have had the best of the weather when you visited! Our outside area is a real sun trap - but it does need the sun to be out!!!

Steve was not at all worried about doing different breakfasts! We like to be able to suit everyone's taste!!

Also I've passed on the mention to Saturdays evenings staff and they were all happy they could help :)

Hopefully see you again soon

Thanks again

Holly

An interesting country pub, access to units from car park is difficult, down steps, across a small bridge, then negotiate a pebbled courtyard. Not easy with a suitcase! Rooms are clean and functional but quite small. Access to the pub bar is via the courtyard and a flight of stairs.
Steve and Wendy are friendly, helpful hosts. Food is good and plentiful, the dinner menu is small but varied. When we visited dinner was not available on Sunday or Monday nights. On Sunday night no taxis services were operating so driving to Lyme Regis for food is the only option, although the staff did offer to arrange " take aways" from the Chinese or Indian outlets.
A pleasant village pub the only one in Uplyme with a busy local trade in a nice location. The web site oversells its features and attributes.

Hi Alan h,

Thank you for your kind words. I agree that with the pub being built on a hill, stairs can sometimes be an issue, that's why we always offer to carry your bags down from the pub to the rooms should you need help. As you also mention, there is a slope from the car park up to the main pub through which you can access the rooms. (I realise this might not have been obvious on first arrival!)

During our quiet season we do not offer food Sunday or Monday nights, we usually don't have anyone in to have dinner! If you are unsure we always recommend you call to check that we are serving food before you make any evening plans.

Taxis in Lyme Regis and Uplyme are few and far between! When visiting the area we recommend that you call in advance to let us know you will need a taxi so we can get one booked for you! Sometimes this is a pain but it does come with country living! Sometimes it's quite nice to be out in the sticks!

Thank you for staying with us - we hope to see you again if you are ever in the area

Holly

Just home from a lovely stay in Devon. We had the pleasure of staying with Steve and Wendy for two nights, on our way to River Cottage, we arrived early and the welcome was so appreciated we had driven for hours. Wendy went out of her way to get our room ready so we could change even made us a pot of Tea (heaven), lovely people and staff. Great in every way.
