“Homely bed and bed breakfast with taste!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

We stayed in this lovely bed and breakfast for two nights when we visited lyme regis for a wedding in river cottage. We found it by chance, as we were googling the area and were impressed by the website, the photos and mainly the price, for 60£ per room per night which was much lower than any other in the area, for a weekend in the begining of august! The room was on the ground floor, a spacious double bedroom, with its own spacious bathroom with a shower, but i think the house also has another room on the top floor. The house is really beautiful and well decorated in a neat, light, refreshed and homely fashion, revealing the landlady's keen and thoughtful eye and care in every corner. If i had noticed that there was going to be a babyliss hair dryer and a straightener i may have been tempted not to carry my own with me! One of the highlights: the breakfast with home made curds and marmalades, etc cooked for you by the hostess and served with nice porcelain, top highlight: the blue berry curd! Drawback? perhaps the location, as it is 5min by car from the sea, no sea view, but with a well kept garden where on a good day you can take your coffee, by the way, perfectly not too strong and not too light!!
would definitely stay there again!

We looked at Fingle on the internet and decided it looked lovely. We rang to check and Jane spoke to us on the phone and straight away we felt we had booked the right place, she was smashing, it seemed like we had known her forever.

When we arrived we met James just arriving home and walked in with him to a lovely warm kitchen, full of life, with an idea that many a conversation was had round the kitchen table. Jane and James made us very welcome and filled us with tea and home made flap jack. It was at this point that we thought we may move in.

The room was lovely and to be honest it was like home from home, only with Jane doing her upmost to ensure that you had everything you needed.

This was more than just a lovely B&B it was a place that you felt you had made two new friends.

We would definitely go back and would recommend Fingle to our friends and families.

Thanks for a really great time x Shirley & Shaun

The accommodation was booked for my husband & I by our family and they assured us that they had done sufficient research to ensure it was up to standard in every respect !! They were 100% correct. We have just returned from a 2night stay at Fingle B&B and can only offer positive feedback. The house is situated a little off the beaten track in a quiet, attractive location. From the moment we arrived, Jane extended her generous hospitality so warmly and nothing was too much trouble. Our ground floor room was perfect with the many additional extras like the lovely selection of magazines. The en suite was spacious with lovely fluffy towels and nice quality shower/bath products for our use. The breakfast was superb, offering an extensive selection of cereals including Jane's homemade Granola, fresh fruit salad, yogurt, full cooked breakfast menu plus all homemade jams. One morning we even had baked peaches with raspberry compote....it doesn't get any better than this.
We will definitely return and highly recommend others to book this accommodation

Room Tip: The ground floor room overlooks the attractive garden and has nice views

Many thanks to Jane and Jim for their hospitality. A perfect location to stay, quiet, beautifully furnished and very well-equipped. Next time we'll include breakfast, which looked tremendous. Best wishes from us all.

We only spent one night at Fingle (as husband was going to Xtreme Falconry the next day) but oh how we wish we could have stayed longer!
From the minute we arrived Jane & James treated us like family rather than guests and we felt like we had known them for years.
The room was lovely, overlooking the garden and much thought had been given to the information & reading material provided.
Some complicated dietary requirements were handled with the utmost care & attention to detail, which meant that we breakfasted like kings, complemented by the most beautiful view out of the sun room window.
We cannot recommend this B&B highly enough - we loved it so much we are returning in September!

We chose Fingle as it was near River Cottage where my husband had a day course the following day. Jane was very welcoming, ensured that we had all we needed and brought us tea and homemade flapjack. We spent 1 night in a pleasant room overlooking the garden. All was spotlessly clean. There was a huge choice for breakfast from a selection of cereals (including Jane's own granola mix), home made jams and a full English spread! We will stay there again, if I get a present for River Cottage!

We stayed here for a few days as were doing a bread making course one day and eating alfresco at River Cottage the next ( both excellent). Jane runs an excellent B&B , agree with all the previous positive comments. Lovely breakfast with home made jams , fruit salads etc and bread from River Cottage. Its a pleasant 20 min walk down into Lyme Regis ( saves the problem of parking which is chaotic in Lyme) where there is a good choice of places to eat and drink.
Went for a lovely nearby walk from Beer to Branscombe during the free day.
Would definately stay here for a short stay in the area.
