Nice pub, small menu, but the steak was excellent and the also the treacle tart. Pleasant place to eat.

We liked the friendly atmosphere. There was a good choice of beer and bar food. The food was good value and came in generous proportions.

As a family when I was young we used to visit the Talbot arms 1-2 times per year during our annual holiday to Lyme Regis.  Last year when on holiday in charmouth I thought it would be nice to relive memories to revisit after a gap of approx 20 years,  following a nice meal then we popped back this year whilst down for the end (history lesson over down to now, lol).

The Talbot arms is a pub that lies on the main road through Uplyme and has its own carpark.  When parking in the car park you can either choose to walk the short distance to the pub along the footpath or the nicer slightly longer route which takes you down some steps and over a stream and into the Talbots garden area. In addition to this there is a lovely large field at the bottom of the steps that you can eat in and children play in (great for tiring children out as we found last year).
The days menu is displayed on a chalk board by the bar and the day we went there was approx 8-10 meals to choose from, so we sat down to discuss.  You can seat where free and to order go to the bar with your table number.  I choose the steak and ale pie and my wife chose lasagne, she went up to order with mom who as usually could not decide, dad went for steak and ale pie also.
Mom was thinking steak until the chef came out to fill his bowl with fresh beer to make beer batter, so fish and chips it was.  Little one chose sausage and chips.
The food arrived in good time and was well presented, nicely cooked and good portions - moms fish was huge.  The steak and ale pie was lovely, all meat was tasty, no fat and again good portion, pastry wise it was buttery and nice texture.  I was told the fish was nice with lovely crispy batter and the lasagne also nice.
Service was good and the price was also fair at approx £9 per main meal.
In summary the Talbot is a pub that serves good homely cooked food in a relaxed family environment with lots of outdoor space, great for the summer.
See you again soon.
