Arrived here for 3 days, from Dubai, booked the royal club room , check in was ok, room very nice with lovely views, clean well kept gardens, had meal in fish restaurant which was nice a little pricey but worth it, lovely pool area. We went into the city centre in a tuk-tuk from the end of the entrance which was a great experience funny too ?
Shopping was not what I am used to, makes you realise how the other half live. All in all worth having a look at the markets and friendly people.
Food at hotel was ok the chicken biranyi was fantastic, wine not good at all ?
My husband ordered 2 bottles of beer drank the first one asked for second one and got a bottle of water instead of beer, which we both sampled we told the barman and he said it was the display bottle,we then got worried as to where the water came from and how long it had been lying there, was it clean, the manager did say it was ok water, so you can imagine how worried we were.
Met some nice guests there too, room service good maid was great !!
Book a room with a backwater view worth it believe me !!!!!!

Room Tip: One last point, when you book this hotel, nothing is done quickly from any area in the hotel coffee...

We stayed here for 2 nights and had 2 rooms. upgraded to the suite and royal club room because of Platinum SPG and Gold SPG status we also had access to the lounge. Staff is polite and helpful. Upon arriving we discovered a hammering noise in the room-were told there was construction going on at the hotel. we were very very upset as we wanted peace and quiet and get a headache easily, esp my mother. after about 1 hr of complaining to diff people after my father demanded to speak to the GM, did the noise stop. We planned our next day accordingly and did Alleypey from 9 to 6 so that we were not there during the renovation timing.
In the evening there was earth hour being observed with diya lamps all over the lobby and corridoors. it was beautiful!!! They should do this every evening for an hour! gives a diff effect and saves energy as well!
The GM, Mr Madan, met us in the evening and offered us the dinner buffet at the hotel to make up for the headache the day before - it was absolutely delicious! and what a spread! Meeting the Padma Shree - Ms Shubha Mudgal - there after her concert as she was also staying at the hotel was icing on the cake.

all in all after the reno noise was stopped we had no reason to complain and thoroughly enjoyed Le Meridien's hospitality.

for those talking abt thr hotel being dingy----there are 2 buildings-one is the quieter smaller building you take the hotel boat to go to-that is an older building-more like a small condo complex. for those looking at the 5 star feel-stay at the main building-and ask for a backwater view. its lovely!

Room Tip: room with the view of the backwaters

Served Non Veg Food to Pure Vegiterian Hindu, with no regrets

I stayed in this hotel for 9 days (March 2012), during which i faced a very serious issue enumerated below:

I am a Pure Vegetarian, by religion (Indian, Hindu) and due to Chef's Mistake, was served a Non Vegetarian food (without information) : which shattered my religious commitments and sentiments badly.

Hotel Management showed very irresponsible behaviour on the above serious matter. Hence if you are a pure Vegetarian, DONOT plan to go to this hotel. Or in case you have restrictions in any terms for food, please do not stay in this hotel. They will not care about your sentiments/ preferences.

Room Tip: DO Not Ever stay in this hotel, if you want your sentiments and preferences to be considered and val...

I'm sure the amount of stars on this hotel speak for themselves. It's a first class hotel. Spacious and luxurious, it has great views of Kerala from the top floors. The highlight of the hotel was definitely the shower - it was possibly the best shower I have ever taken. On the other hand, if you happen to get a room in the block on the other side of the backwaters, the boat transportation gets old quickly, especially if you require regular promptness for events at the main hotel -- it is relatively inefficient and requires constant planning ahead.

Overall, though, a wonderful stay!

Very good hotel the rooms were very grand and comfortable the staff were very helpful and friendly. It is in a good location for travelling to other parts of Cochin but gives the impression of being mainly a business hotel but on the whole our experience was very good.

Room Tip: If there is a festival on when you are there make sure you get a room at the front. The noise from g...

Overall, this was a positive experience. The rooms were large and mine had a good view of the backwaters. However, I stayed on the side that you had to get to by boat, and while novel at first, it got old fast. While it was a nice hotel, I'm not sure it was the quality I expected from a 5 star hotel.

I travel a lot, both business and private and I'm a Starwood member, using Starwood proporties a lot. This was a bad experience. Arriving late (around 23 pm) on my business trip with my guests the receptionist (Mr. Rajesh T K) couldn't find my booking. Even after checking on name, confirmation number, Starwood number: nothing. He kept on complaining about other staff. No solution popping up and my guests kept waiting. Only after urging and finally getting angry I got my room and my guests were released of this horrible treatment.

On the accomodaton: this hotel doesn't live up anymore to the promise of a five star and certainly not a Le Meridien. You better settle for about the same money in the Taj Malabar. A nice place, excellent service and real value for money.
