“Traditional Japanese hotel in great location”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

We stayed in this hotel for one night during our 2 weeks honeymoon trip around Japan. It was one of the best hotels that we stayed during our trip. It was extremely clean, peaceful and the hotel Hosts made us feel super welcome. This is a beautiful hot spring ryokan that left a beautiful long-lasting impression on us. Both dinner and breakfast were extremely well presented and delicious, served in our own private room. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Have dinner and breakfast at the hotel for traditional Japanese experience.

We stayed in Yudanaka Seifuso for the weekend and we were looking for a unique onsen + ryokan experience and that's exactly what we've got. Our room was awesome, comfortable and the fact that it didn't have a bathroom didn't bother us at all as there are 3 onsens with showers and numerous shower room across the hotel. The staff were nice even though they spoke little English, we were still able to get everything we needed. This is one of those hotels I'll remember for ever and will hopefully get to visit sometime again~

Three minute walk from the station to a warm welcome, comfortable room, relax in the onsen and a delicious breakfast each morning. One purpose of our visit was to go to the Monkey Park, made easy by our host driving us there-a great service. The entire staff were friendly and all came to the front to say goodbye at our departure. We recommend a stay at Yudanaka Seifuso for good value for your money.

I only stayed two nights and I wished I stayed a week. It's a small place in a mountain town close to the snow monkey park. You go there to experience the hot springs (onsen) and trek to see the snow monkeys bathing in the natural hot springs. The place seems to be run by elderly people. The ryokan is over 200 years old and well kept. There a various onsen to choose from. The place has a very cozy feel, you feel relaxed and taken care of, a perfect stay for weary travelers. The next day of my arrival, I think I must the. missed the bus, I do not understand Japanese, but the elderly staff member held my arm motioning me to stay put. Finally he drove me to the park entrance free of charge. I highly recommend walking back from the park to take great pictures of the snowy peaks surrounding the town. It's about a 45 minutes walk back. They provide breakfast and dinner. It became the highlight of my stay at the ryokan! The set up was amazing in a tatami room and the food was plentiful and beautifully arranged. It was a wow every time. The quality and taste was superb. This is real Japanese food not the fast food stuff in Tokyo. The rooms are Japanese style simple and yet soo cozy I could have slept there for days. The staff are super friendly, at the end waiting for me to put on my boots and backpack, waving me goodbye with my apple in hand given to me before leaving. It was pure gold!

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same.

We have had a number of stays in traditional Ryokans and this was up there with the best. We were made to feel welcome by the owners and family who staff the Ryokan.

They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, the son drove us to the snow monkey park and the hotel provided us all with galoshes to wear on that trip due to the melting snow. The traditional breakfasts every morning were fantastic.

They were also helpful with suggestions for sightseeing, and in particular the suggestion to take the short train ride to visit the village of Obuse was a gem. We enjoyed our stay there immensely and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a more personal experience in a small facility that made it feel almost like home.

The 3 onsen within the grounds were also great.

Room Tip: All rooms were great. However if you are not very mobile, ask for a ground floor room because the st...

This hotel is GREAT!! They have a very warm staff, husband and wife work the front desk. They speak very little English, but are very capable of making you feel welcome in their Onsen. Other reviews say there is an English speaking son, but I didn't meet him. I just put everything into Google translate and hoped for the best. They tried their best to help me just as I tried my best to help them understand me. These are genuinely honest, nice and kind people who enjoy their guests and their profession. The rooms were very authentic and clean, as was the entire hotel and the onsen was very nice and hot. Cool the water with the faucet if you use the cypress onsen. We also had the dinner which was a FEAST. It included fruit, sashimi, tempura, rice, noodles, karaage (fried chicken), veggies, beef and pickled veggies. Very, very good if you are a fan of authentic Japanese food. They don't accept tip in Japan, but this is one of the times where I would be more than happy to, if they would accept it. If I get a chance to come back, I will definitely stay here and I highly, highly recommend this hotel to everyone!!!
