This amazing chalet hotel with natural hot spring onsens and sooo much snow for skiing was a highlight of our Japanese winter holiday. The buffet breakfast and dinner (included in the price) had a really good blend of traditional food and western food and our children really enjoyed it. There is a washing machine and dryer for washing. There is a great convenience store and souvenir shop.
The ski lift is a short walk away. We had expert ski instruction for our children and the hotel has a rental shop. The prices of rental and lift passes are about half price compared to some northern ski resorts.
Having a hot spa after a day on the slopes was sensational. We could relax by the fire after dinner in the lobby.
There is a Starbucks at the top of the hill for a coffee fix. A great cafe with good food at the lift cafe all delicious and very reasonable prices. You can easily get a ride down to the Snow Monkey Park(Jigokudani) and look around Shibu Onsen and Yamanouchi. The sister hotel Biyu no Yado, Yamanouchi Town was also great to stay at for a few days with 'out of this world' food and hospitality too!
The staff at Shiga Palace were very helpful and friendly.More
