“good in and out ski, spacious appartments”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

it's our third time in les arcs, edenarc (after trying a lot of other apartments in french skiingresorts). the apartments are spacious, which is not an evidence in france, clean and nice decorated, good pool area, somewhat busy at certain hours, great in and out ski, good ski lockers, only "downside" is that is not located in a centre and you need to take your car or a shuttle bus if yoy need something from a shop (les arcs 1800 has not cosy center so if you do not need anything do'nt go there )

This is our 3rd time in Les Arcs, but the first time at Edenarc. The apartment was of high quality and provided all the items required for a holiday. We booked a 2 bedroomed apartment, which had an en-suite and a family shower room ( also had an additional toilet), large living area, double balcony and a reasonable sized kitchen (typical French size). The kitchen had a selection of crockery/untensils and good quality cookware. All beds were made up on arrival, which made our first day easier, as many apartments in France don't offer this service.
The reception was initially due to open at 5pm for checking in, but we got our key at 1.30pm, again making the first day run smoothly. The apartment had plenty of storage/wardrobe space, and heating in all rooms. We did have an issue the first day, with the heating not being high enough and the hot water not hot enough. This was rectified straight away by the maintenance department.
The ski in/ ski out was ideal, and made the skiing days easier, with no walking to bus stops. We booked our skis online with 'Ski Republic', and they are based in the basement of the apartments. At the moment they have 2 for 1 offer online. We also booked passes online to save time. The quality of the skis were very good, and the service from the staff the same. Ski lockers located on the lower floor, and well heated.
We found that the apartment is slightly away from the shops, but the free shuttle goes to this area every 20mins (free) and last one at 23.30pm. We used this to access the shops and bars. The best Happy Hour bar we found was 'Che Boubou', in 1800. A large beer was 3 euros and 50 cents. All-in-all, we would definitely go to this apartment again, and recommend to others.
There are only a few negatives, but this is a personal note:- only 2 English channels (BBC World and CNN), take bin bags, bathrobes/slippers must be purchased and French bread from the reception too hard and smaller than the ones in spar(go on the shuttle and buy from spar).

Room Tip: Try and ask for south facing rooms, and from 2nd floor or above

Lovely apartments, spacious, warm, clean and well equipped. They are also very well sound proofed! Helpful and friendly staff. Good size ski lockers. Having ski hire in basement makes it very easy. Ski in ski out great (beware it's onto a blue run, so not ideal for complete beginner). Great views from apartment. One small technical problem we had with room safe was sorted out immediately. The free shuttle bus service to nearby bars and shops is very frequent (stops at 23:30) Shop at the Sherpa and have your groceries delivered free - good service. Pool and sauna area are very nice, they can get a bit busy at peak times. Wouldn't stay any where else if we return to Les Arcs.

Room Tip: If you want a bit more space it's worth paying for a bigger room.

We have just returned from a week at Edenarc, so here are the positives and minor negatives of the resort!

Positives
- Great location, true ski in ski out, although it is on a red run and the only way ski back to the hotel is to get a chair lift from Arc 1950. If you get the Transarc gondola up to the top you cannot get back to the hotel directly. Not an issue for us as we got to explore more of the mountain!
- Apartments were very spacious and the level of cleanliness was fantastic, large, airy modern rooms. We paid slightly more for a two bed larger apartment, well worth it as you get a bigger lounge and kitchen area.
- Pool etc all very clean and great facilities, although as expected they get busy from around 5pm.
- Warm crepes served outside the hotel every day from 4pm, a great snack after the slopes!

Negatives
- Check in process was slow, as the reception area is very small to accommodate everyone checking in on a Saturday.
- Luggage - if you drive it's a bit of a trek with luggage from the car park to the apartments, there were only around 5 luggage trollies available which was not enough for everyone, make sure you have a euro to hand, also try and get yourself a trolley the night before you leave and as soon as you get there as we had a lot of trips to do as there were no trollies available!
- Wifi - connection speed was good, however what they don't tell you is as soon as anyone in your party connects they then have that connection all the time even if they turn off their wifi. Luckily we are pretty good with computers so we had to disconnect devices via the IP portal all the time. So a little tip once you connect once you have the connection the whole time even if you are not using it! Connections limited to 2 per apartment.
-Heating - controlled centrally not to much of an issue, we asked for the heating to be turned up by reception and this was rectified immediately.

All in all it is a fantastic hotel, the negatives would not stop us booking again for next year!

You can take a nice stroll about 20 minutes down the hill to Arc 1800 and get the courtesy bus back if you don't fancy the hill back up.

A great place to stay away from the hustle of Arc 1800 I would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Mont Blanc, and go for the bigger two bed apartments, worth the extra money.

Room 317 montblanc view. Only a few years old so still seems new, but easily the best place in les arcs. Better than the village in 1950. Ski in / out was great. Amazing warm pool with outdoor section. Slightly out of 1800 but 5 mins walk down the slope not a problem. 15 mins back up mind and you need to be fit, but the shuttle bus is fine as walking the road is not really an option as it's out of the way. Nice savoyade restaurant in next block and pizza a emporter. Ski hire there too or I believe on site. Issues about lack of bread etc did not effect us as we just bought from the bakers in 1800 the night before. Rooms spacious. Bath in ensuite in ours with seperate bathroom with shower. Nice to be slightly out of the main village

This is the 2nd year our family have stayed in Edenarc and again we had nothing but positives, both for the accommodation and for the skiing in this region, simply amazing. We were able to lock in one of the duplex three bedroom apartments with a cool central, glass encased, fireplace which was a real treat, the size is great with all bedrooms being big and the living/dining room very spacious indeed. We probably ate in over 50% of the time and to have all that space and to be able to relax with some good food and great surroundings (the slopes are lit up on some nights and a very picturesque backdrop) all while being able to slouch around in your thermals is such a treat - it certainly beats a hotel room on many levels, especially if with a family. Really a great time to reconnect for us.

The staff led by Anthony are great, very friendly and ready to help when they can. It can get very busy on the Saturdays on changeover day and they still manage to handle with a smile and a wink and handle everyone efficiently.

Tip: order bread, croissant etc from reception the evening before and it will be ready for you in the morning.

I have read a couple of negative reviews re the internet. Last year we also had some problems and bought a "Le French SIM" portable wifi router incase - and of course, now prepared, we had no issues with the internet which was stable and relatively fast - though once rebooted the modem - there may well be inconsistencies in the signal and we must have lucked out. The limited number of connections per apartment though is an irritation.

Regarding the skiing and the 1800 resort as a whole. The skiing is really amazing, we were fortunate enough to be able to ski also in Val D'Isere directly afterwards and I have to say we would have to put Paradise ski region on top, just. The range of runs is incredible from challenging to very easy and everything in between. Val D'Isere is difficult for beginners (friends' kids are learning) so that was the deciding factor.

Another win for us are the restaurants, there are not many foodies that write gushing reviews about Les Arcs 1800 but we had some great meals out and all felt the choices seem to be growing and also up the mountains at a fraction of the cost of Val D'Isere. There is something for everyone in 1800 from the more hardcore après skiers to the more sedate and as it's an elongated stretch you don't feel you are on top of each other.

Finally the ski in ski out aspect of Edenarc is the deal sealer, it's so great after a long day on the slopes not to have to take a bus or have to walk 10 mins in ski boots, also the peace and quiet at night not being in town is much appreciated. We ended up hiring a car to drive up this year and so grocery shopping was easy but even last year when we relied on the bus it was no drama as so regular.

Hope we can make it next year!

Room Tip: Honestly, if you can, stretch for the 3 bedrooms they are worth it!

Apt 003 (2x bed, 2 bath with extra large balcony):

My 4th visit to this hotel and, as you would expect my views are positive.

Firstly I have young kids (7 and 4) learning to ski and ski-in ski-out access to chantel (which is a beginner slope - green in any other resort but pink here for some reason!) is invaluable. Next , the on-site ski hire (SKI REPUBLIC) could not be better for both location and service.

Apartments were, as always, always spotless on arrival and really quite spacious for Ski accommodation. Bread orders work well in reception and allows for a relaxed start to day. Pool/Spa again very clean and temperatures all very good for the full week we were in. Reception staff could not be more helpful and you can arrange ski lessons/ski school from a concession in reception - again very useful if needed. Ample underground parking which means no digging out car at end of week!

I agree with other users comments about closing time of SPAR down in 1800 but this is the same for the whole resort and not a fault of the hotels.

Room Tip: Odd numbers face mont blanc, even numbers face up the hill and get better afternoon sun.
