“Great location for skiing. Comfortable, clean and informal.”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

The Hotel is genuinely ski in ski out and there are lifts close enough to the Hotel to get into the Paradiski area easily.

The rooms are adequate. I don't understand the wisdom of not having showers in the rooms and this is a definite downside.
There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms so maybe bring your own travel kettle.

The food is plentiful with a huge variety to cater for all tastes and dietary needs. Service is very good with Fabien efficiently running the show.

Eric the general manager is very good and sorted out the few problems we had when we found the staff on the Reception desk rude disdainful incompetent and unhelpful.

The ski room system is fabulous. There were always had staff to take your skis and boots boots from you at the end of the day and put them on boot warmers for the morning. In the morning your warn dry boots were brought out.

The bar is great with the bar manager Regis presiding over everything efficiently creating great ambiance.

There are no stairs in the Hotel - it is built on a slope. Try to get a room numbered 300 or 400 and something so you are not low down. Alternatively it is possible to use a lift rather than stop up and down the slopes.

The spa is OK but not really worth taking into account. The indoor pool is tiny, Jacuzzi takes 4 comfortably - six if you're thin. Its very busy and best to book.

Chambery airport is a bit of a zoo on busy Saturdays. Its facilities are poor and it gets very crowded. Consider Geneva as an option.

Room Tip: Avoid room numbered 100 as they are a long way down and have no view. Go for 300 or 400 if possible...

Decent hotel overall, but room not cleaned on day three at all, which is very poor. Don't mind if hotel is one or two stars, but in a three star hotel this is not acceptable. Fantastic live music in the evening. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Great location, ski in ski out, close to a few lifts, local shops, restaurants and bars.

Staff are all very friendly and the rooms are clean. We got a superior room for a better view and a little extra space. Beds are comfy and bath has shower head. Also has free safe!

Has great ski room, always had staff to take your boots off you at the end of the day and put them on boot warmers for the morning, we loved this!

The bar is great but rather expensive, as expected for half way up a mountain. We loved the chilled jazz band which played at night and there's a fancy open fire.

The ONLY downside is the evening meal. There's 3 restaurants. A standard buffet which is different every night, a meat and cheese restaurant and a Spanish one.(all included in half board) we only had the buffet as we didn't fancy the menus for the others but it wasn't very good. There's a bigish selection and its edible but I wouldn't say it was tasty. The deserts are good though! Breakfast was great with eggs, bacon, boil your own eggs, bread, fruit, cereals, meats and cheese!

We flew to Chambery and circled the airport numerous times before we could land, its a small airport and apparently its normal to be over crowded so Geneva is recommended.

Second year back at this hotel for a short ski trip . Location is perfect , ski in / ski out and just a few hundred metres to the lifts which you can ski to with minimum pushing. They have changed the Ski locker organisation , it is now staffed by a couple of people from the ski rental shop adjoining the hotel . Much better system as previously the lockers and changing area were too cramped. Staff really friendly and helpful , the buffet breakfast and dinner are great value with a very good choice of food. Rooms are modern/comfortable and spotless. The bar is very relaxing with a great log fire.

Stayed from the 14-21 December 2013 on half board.
Room very modern and clean, with beautiful views. Only downside was that our room seemed to be the last to be cleaned each day at around 5in the afternoon so if we wanted to come back from skiing early it wasn't ready.
The hotel restaurant was very nice, with good service and wine included. Some of the food was not hot as it had been sat in containers but it all tasted nice (plenty of fancy puddings). At breakfast they had a chef to cook you fried eggs and omelettes etc.
The new ski concierge service was quick and everyone very polite however not sure how it would hold up at peak season. We used the spa twice (once was free) and it was lovely and relaxing after a day skiing.
The local area was busy and had plenty of shops and restaurants for lunchtime and evening. The skiing itself was excellent blue sky's and fresh snow on wednesday and thursday leaving fresh powder. we went down the sledging course and around the ice sculpture iglu which were both really fun and very affordable and a definite must do!!
I would go back and recommend to anyone wanted a relaxed skiing environment!

We stayed at Hotel Du Golf from 29 Jan 2013 to 5 Jan 2014. As we were only travelling from Tignes we arrived early - around 12 noon. Having completed check in paperwork (& we knew we were early) we were told that the room would be ready in around an hour. We waited in reception, having been provided with a WIFI sign in to catch up on work emails (no rest for us). At around 2 pm we asked again (after 2 hours) and we were advised that it would be another half an hour. We went off to have lunch & came back, when we asked again at 3.30pm. We were informed (rather pompously) that check in was at 4PM!!!!! Too bad that we weren't told to wait until 4 pm at 12 noon - we would have gone skiing. At 4.10pm we asked again for our room key. No - it's not ready. Too bad - check in time is 4Pm - suddenly it only took another 10 minutes. What a pity the other 30 or 40 guests who arrived after us (that we saw) managed to get their keys so quickly - perhaps they spoke French?
Room was clean, warm, lots of hot water, comfy bed - not special but more than required in a ski resort.
The Bar Manager was fabulous from the first night - friendly, chatty in between serving, knew his stuff, both product as well as customer service & how to make you feel like you are "wanted".

On New Years Eve on first lift my husband was taken out from behind by a skier. He didn't stop, didn't ask if we were ok - just skied off & we ended up with a broken Humerus - no skiing, could hardly walk without so much pain.... Let me tell you - the hotel could not have more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Bar staff were their normal wonderful selves, Reception Manager was fabulous & her staff were as helpful as possible. Maître De & his staff bent over backwards in anyway they could help us, and recognised us every meal to find a table where no extra damage could be done.
Ski Patrol to bring us down the mountain was fabulous - he said he wanted to visit Australia, anytime mate, call us & you have somewhere to stay. Medical Centre knew their stuff (maybe they see this often....).
In summary, check in needs vast improvement - everything else is good. Would love to have done the other 5 days of skiing.

Great hotel on the slopes SKI in SKI out- but really disappointed by food, ambience and service in le Petit Zinc restaurant in the hotel
We were so pleased with the bar area and breakfast provided it seemed only reasonable to try the restaurant Le Petit Zinc. From making the booking to the morning after the meal our guests and ourselves were let down: insult to injury with diarrhoea next morning considered to be caused by the CHORBA soup.

1. We were implored to order cheese and desserts before we had eaten anything and told it is 'because we are so busy tonight'
2.The rectangular plates could barely fit on the table of 7- rather pretentious
3.Service was already overbearing and then the manager started to oversee the serving staff at our table
4. Plates were removed before we had completed eating
5. THE RESTAURANT WAS HALF FULL!
3. Food was overcooked
It is not constructive to complain without making suggestions for improvements so it you are reading this- ditch the Hispanic to Asian menu. Although on considering eating here the small menu suggested simplicity you were in fact trying to do too much. Take care not to over cook fish
