The Bel Aval residence is 5 minutes walk away from the central Arc 2000 ski area. The access stairs are near to the patinoire/ice rink shopping area and are slightly tiring after a long ski. This apartment has a storage area for skis and boots. There are full kitchen facilities, a futon in the lounge area and a sleeping area near to the entrance. Bathroom facilities and hot water are very good. Heaters are provided which help with drying of clothing etc. This is a well maintained and comfortable apartment. I have booked this apartment twice and both times have found it to be quiet with no problems from other residents. There are signs of rough treatment around the communal areas and the apartment's lift. However the same could be said for other parts of Arc 2000 such as the larger Résidence Aiguille Rouge. This apartment is recommended for a good value stay.
We booked this apartment for 4 weeks. Just before Xmas till 22jan. The first thing we noticed was the cold. It was very very cold we had to surround the bed with heaters and we were still freezing. I definitely would not suggest having kids stay in the bunk bed area near the front door. It is not really suitable as holiday accommodation its more for the people that work there. You regularly had unpleasant incidents like graffiti in the lifts, morons youths parking across the main entrance and every button in the lift being already pressed when you got in etc. Just badly behaved childish french youths. We had four arcs 2000 employees living above. In think they worked in bars or nightclubs cause they often returned at 3-5am and partied all night, slept all day. The were so noisey jumping around, playing computer games, music. Talking to them was a total waste of time. When the flushed the toilet it felt like the whole flat shock. We spent most of our holiday escalating the issue to tourist services, the police, their landlord, the flat management company, and our landlord Jean Micheal. It was not easy being that we didn't speak French and didn't really know how to deal with it. The police attended three times in the middle of the night. In the first week we were asking if we could leave but Jean Micheal refused to return any of our money and let us leave early. I asked and asked and asked. He should have let us go and come deal with the problem at his property. We left in the middle of the 3rd week, we only had enough money for a few days for another place. We had to pay for both. We went to arc 1600 and it was so nice for about 3 days out of our 29 day holiday. Jean Micheal wanted to meet us at the end but I was so furious with his handling of the situation I decided to give the keys to tourist services.
I have stayed in Les arcs three times. If you are older and want peace 1600, want bars shops and party 1800, if you loads of cash to spend 1950. But 2000 is horrible and bel Aval is one of the two worst blocks there.
For the money you pay you can't go wrong. Just a lift away from 2000 shops / restaurants.
We had 4 people stay here which made for a very cheap, cosey yet comfortable stay.
We stayed here as a family with two teenagers over Christmas. The apartment was surprisingly big enough for the four of us, with a well enough eqipped kitchen area to prepare our meals. The beds were comfortable and the sofa bed easy to put up and down. Lots of storage and hooks for skis, boots coats etc.
Only a couple of minutes walk to the main square and lifts for skiing, and easy key collection and drop off at a local shop.
Fourth or fifth time in Arc 2000, first time in an apartment there, and if / when we return we would be more than happy to rebook.
