Excellent customer service, plenty of variety for breakfast and plenty of food, rooms very clean, cosy, great views and comfortable, great facilities, wifi 24/7, the landlady and her staff were very friendly and very helpful with information about things to do in and around town, restaurants, places to eat, transport services etc. I stayed early January 2014 for 5 nights and I will return to stay again the next time I travel to the UK

We stayed one night in an en-suite room which was basic, but clean and perfectly adequate, if a little dated. There are several rooms which are not en-suite and other guests had to march along landings (or even downstairs) to use the bathroom. As others have said, the proprietors were not unpleasant, but really have no concept of customer care. My main complaint would be about the breakfast, which was made up of poor quality produce from the cash & carry - no locally produced quality products here. The orange juice was watery (more like orange squash), and the "Full English" consisted of a fried egg, two small slices of thin and greasy smoked bacon, and the cheapest and most horrible sausage I have ever had the misfortune to encounter, and some mushrooms out of a tin. The toast was made from cheap sliced bread and the jams were mass produced in plastic packets from the cash & carry. They had run out of marmalade. There is no way this is an £80 per night B & B, which is what we paid for an en-suite room. I have stayed in many B & B`s around the country, many of which have provided much higher quality, better customer service and nicer a décor at lower cost. Its true value would be more in the region of £45 per night and if it had been priced accordingly I would have more readily accepted what was offered. I guess that they are able to charge what they do because there is very little competition for B & B`s in Marple.

Just back, from Oakfield Lodge, Marple. We had visited the nearby Carver Theatre to see a great amateur dramatics performance of an Ayckbourn Play.
The icing on the cake being a stay at the nearby Oakfield Lodge, where we shared a family room with our teenage children. There were lovely views from our room over the countryside. We all enjoyed the stay immensely; from comfortable room, to good breakfast with plenty of cereals, fruit, and choice of cooked items. As two of us are vegetarians, our host Spencer enquired if he could offer us anything else as well as what was available on the menu.
We had booked direct over the telephone and we were pleasantly surprised to find we could arrive anytime from 2pm and the checkout was 11am. It was also nice to be asked what time we would like breakfast at. The house itself is charming and clean. Our family en-suite room was furnished in a style in keeping with the character of the house .
Our 14 year old daughter thought it should be 5 star because of the service we received and style of the house and free wifi! The TV was a bit dated, but very adequate and it wasn’t an issue; as we felt the house could be straight from an Agatha Christie story (comfy and period).
The owners are dog lovers, we had seen reviews and were very pleasantly surprised that there wasn’t any trace of a smell of dogs or air fresheners.
The accommodation is well located close to the river Goyt, Macclesfield Canal interesting lock systems and the Peak District.
We stayed for one night, but will stay for longer when we return.

Room Tip: room with a view.

when you pay £25.99 for a room with continental breakfast your expectations will be low but I cnnot speak highly enough of Lorraine and Spencer who go far beyond the level of customer service you expect-the room is spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom immaculately clean. Snd the continental breakfast is more than sufficient-well done

Stayed here at the weekend i have to say was not impressed bed was so un comfy Outdated but very clean was not asked if wanted on-suite we just thought would be for the price also was on top floor which they also didn't ask if was ok.The shower is dangerous i turned it on low temp yet it went red hot i had to keep moving out of it and turning it to cold.Asked what we wanted for breakfast and time to which we said 9 we sat in the dining area for 15 minutes before anyone came into us at one point my husband was going to leave. The Breakfast tasted horrible and the plate full grease i didn't eat it or go down for it the next morning. For the price i would have booked in Premier Inn or Travel lodge sorry would not stay again.

As a business traveler my company usually book me into a travel lodge type hotel which are OK and functional but lacking in personality or service, so to stay at family run Oakfield was a joy, due to the nature of my work I checked in early, went out to work at 6pm back at 1am then out again at 5am, each time there was someone there to say hi, or bye. Because of my early start they provided me with wheetabix, milk, and fruit in my room which helped me out more than they can know.

To sum it up, comfy bed, great views, amazing staircase, friendly service, but most of all a guest house with a personality,(all be it sometimes quirky).

Keep up the good work guys, loved your place, and service.

Stayed here for one night in September 2013. Good sized room (3) with great views. Very clean if somewhat outdated....furniture from the 1940s or so! . Staircase a great feature in the centre of this nice old house which has lots of potential. Service is very basic with not a lot of customer care going on. Greeted at breakfast by "what do you want?" ..not even a good morning to be heard! Breakfast itself was OK. This was no means a bad B and B but I probably wouldn't come back here and would try other placed in Marple first.
