Staying at Penbontbren 5* Bed and Breakfast nearby, we ventured down to Llangrannog, such a beautiful place. Called in to The Ship / y Llong and had a wonderful evening meal here, the Sirloin steak was excellent as was the rest of the meal, would definitely call again. a real gem. we were very lucky to arrive at a time when there was a good table available, the staff were great and the service was very good. a lovely place with a lovely atmosphere, and very reasonably priced cant wait to visit again

“Average food and one very rude member of staff.....”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

Unfortunately I think this pub is a victim of its own success. Having such a great location and good parking there really is little else competition....and it seems the staff know it!
We ate here on three occasions on our family break in this area. As mentioned the food was fine when it came however on two out of the three occasions there was a mix up with the order.
This would have been fine with an apology that was halfway sincere but it seems the lady working/owning the place really struggled with that.
Also when two of our group ordered curry, the plates were almost thrown at us saying "there's no nann!" in an angry tone that almost said 'I dare you to complain!".
We really felt not just unwelcome but as if the woman really hated her job and had decided that we were the people she would take it out on (on both days). Every question (e.g what is the soup of the day) seemed painfully annoying to her to the point where we felt angry at her uncalled for attitude. We even felt that we couldn't complain about this as the backlash for asking what the fish of the day was so great, what would a complaint result in!!!!

All in all a Basil Fawlty type example of poor customer service.

We really should have gone to the Pentra Arms....

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I`m dissapointed that you think we have a cavalier attitude to our guests, this could not be further from our aims. As you ate here three times, and as you state, the food was fine, it would appear that we as owners, have been let down by one member of staff. This will be rectified. With regard to the mix up with the orders, this could possibly be credited to the person placing the order, I seem to remember one person placing the order at the bar, whilst the remaining guests shouted over what they wanted. On a number of occasions, this caused confusion with the staff taking the order, and the person placing the order, however I would like to apologise for the attitude of the young lady who served you. Once again though, thankyou for your review.

We visited The Ship on Bank Holiday Sunday and have to say that the staff really are excellent. There was a nice relaxed atmosphere and the food was brilliant value for money. Definitely recommend the prawn cocktail and we will certainly be back soon.
