“Perfect Place to stay with the Perfect Owner. Thank you Ivan!!”
Reviewed 12 May 2012

We stayed here on our first night in Panama and after 15 days of travelling around Panama we returned to relax (with friends)and finish our trip here with four more nights before heading home!

why??

Ivan the owner is a very kind hearted and caring person that he wants nothing more than for you to enjoy your stay, ensure you get the most of your stay and help you, chat and become friends. Daily forecasts on surf points and tides, whilst serving up amazing breakfast and relaxing in a cosy little corner of El palmer!

There are 5 rooms- beautifully decorated and put together with amazing photography shots displayed in each taken by Ivan himself. Comfy beds, swan shaped towels and big hot water showers are a very welcoming sight when you have been travelling around Panama and you get a glimpse into some of the places you could be having to stay!!

All the staff (3 and Ivan) are friendly and caring and are always around for a chat and will recommend things to you to ensure you have the best trip- whilst phoning around and helping with any enquiries/planning and language translation for you!!

Not only this whilst we stayed here we found a puppy who we named Rio- our friends had planned to try and adopt her and take her home to the states. I won't write the sad story of Rio but would only say Ivan helped us and supported us with vets, airlines and care of the beautiful little puppy which will never be forgotten!

All in all thank you Manglar Lodge and Ivan we will send many to visit and return too!!

We stayed at the Manglar Lodge in El Palmar for three nights and loved it. The lodge is fairly new and has beautiful wood tables and a deck to sit out on as well as lounge chairs out on the lawn with water spraying you to cool you off. The rooms were large, comfortable and clean. The owner, Ivan, and his staff are always helpful, pleasant and available. It's a nice, quiet location. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. A huge benefit is that people who stay at the Manglar Lodge are welcome to use the pool at the Bay View hotel across the street, which is also clean and refreshing. We highly recommend Manglar Lodge - it was a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the top floor so you get a little balcony of your own and the breeze.

This is a great little hotel short distance away from the beach. The rooms are very cozy and nice. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable. Everything is in working order.
It is relatively new, the decor is very neutral and pretty modern.

We stayed at Manglar Lodge in Nov. of '11 and loved our stay. We along with our two dogs moved from KC to Panama in March of '12. Our destination was Boquete and we needed a place to stay along the way that would allow our pets and none were to be found. I called Ivan and explained our predicament. With out hesitation he responded no problem...your dogs are welcome to stay at my house. You see, pets are not allowed at Manglar Lodge but Ivan went out of his way in offering his own home to our pets just to accommodate us. This is the service you can expect not only from the owner but the entire staff at Manglar Lodge. i can assure you that you will not be disappointed in the cleanliness of the rooms or in the quality of the food.

Thank you
George and Allison

Hello

It is always a pleasure to have you in our place and to help other dog owners I know how hard it is to travel around with dogs. If we build a new stage we will have some pet friendly room.

My daughter and I arrived in the relaxed atmosphere of San Carlos on the third day of our stay in Panama. What a relief after driving in Panama City!!! We stayed at the Manglar Lodge for two nights. It was a lovely place with clean rooms, great food and service. The setting in the lush trees that sit a few steps away from the black sand beaches is wonderful. There is an open-air dining patio where we enjoyed breakfast and dinner, chatting with the staff and owner, Ivan. The decor is cool and chic and the food is delicious. I recommend the fresh pineapple ice cream drink. Don't miss the cats lounging around the property.

We only stayed one night in the lodge to experience the Pacific after almost two weeks on the Caribbean side of Panama. Manglar Lodge is a stylish, indeed clean and well-kept Hotel. With only four rooms you get a personal touch with the staff. Enjoying the beaches of El Palmar is a bit difficult, due the large variations of the tide.

Room Tip: 3 of 4 rooms have a balcony.

We arrived in El Palmar on the fourth day of our one week trip to Panama, looking for a beach to surf and boogie board. We were lucky to find a room at Manglar Lodge for two of our four nights at El Palmar. Ivan, the owner was very helpful in helping us find the best place to rent boards and take lessons, he directed us to Coronado, a town about 10 minutes away, and even called us a cab to get there when we were looking for shopping, and sat down with us just to chat, many times during our stay at El Palmar. When my boyfriend got sick with the stomach flu one day, Ivan brought ant-acids and a new bottle of Pepto Bismol up to our room, even though he didn't sell it at his hotel, a gesture which was greatly appreciated. The hotel is extremely clean, and tastefully decorated. Overall, great service, hospitality, and a comfortable, clean affordable place to stay. Two thumbs up!
