Bakkegaarden Moens Klint
Ranked #1 of 1 Busene B&B and Inns
Reviewed 20 September 2013

The place is perfectly located, it is easy to get to Møns Klint (not to walk there, though) and to the Geo Center. There are, however, lovely places for a walk, there are places to sit and watch at the landscape or you can sit in the yard at the table. Lots of parking places available. We skipped the breakfast, but we applied for dinner (which was served at six). It was excellent and we couldn't get enough of young potatoes, beetroot salad and some carrot dish. Food is made by the owner. Toilet is shared and it has a shower cabin, which is not the end of the world. The place was not full so there was a relatively small number of people using it at that time. And you do have to make our own bed since the linen is packed in a small bag together with the towel. No complementary toiletries, not even a soap in the room (each room has a sink). The place is insanely decorated, each room has a different theme (ours was apple room), the sitting area is also filled with paintings and ornaments. Some of that is for sale and there is a small selection of household items with the local motifs that are for sale. It is possible to buy wine, beer, and other food items (simply take them from the fridge and write it down). Wifi available. It is a bit tricky to get to the upper floor because the stairs are too steep. The sitting area is spacious and has a tv, music player, toys for children... The place has it flaws and it is not that cheep, but we enjoyed it.

Room Tip: Ocean is not really that close, so room with the ocean view meant nothing, and the price difference...

My wife and I spent two nights here in mid-August, and we loved every minute of it. We had a sea-view room and loved having the option of keeping our window open a bit in the evenings so we could hear the ocean waves in the distance. The owners are very nice. Yes, there are some peculiar things about the place that might turn off some travelers (e.g., having to share the toilet and shower rooms with several other vacationers; paying extra for your bedding and then having to make your own bed) but the overall atmosphere of the place more than makes up for it. Also, the breakfast is very basic (but certainly acceptable).

Despite those (very) minor issues, we really enjoyed ourselves. We came al the way from Arkansas and we certainly hope to make our way back at some point in the future. Moen really is a beautiful island.

Room Tip: Get a sea-view room and stay for multiple nights.

We stayed one night at the Bakkegaard Gaestgiveri. The Guesthouse has a large garden with direct view to the sea. Our room also had a great view. All rooms are individually decorated from local artists. There is a restaurant with excellent food. With the perfect location next to Mons Klint and the very friendly staff, this place is the place to go! We would have loved to stay a bit longer...

Room Tip: Take a room with sea view!

A wonderful little guest house, great atmosphere and friendly hosts. The rooms are comfortable, although you have to pay extra for your bedding and make your own bed. Another place that says it does food, but when we arrived we were told that they were not doing so that night and we would have to drive to find restaurant (not ideal if you want a drink). The setting, however, is near perfection and it is within easy walking distance of Møns Klint (it took us about 20 minutes). Breakfast was excellent.

This place is very nice, the location is perfect, within walking distance of the white cliffs of Mon. Friendly people too and the food was good. However, do not expect a hotel as you will have to make your own bed, toilet and shower are shared with 7 rooms and the room itself was rather small. All this at around 100 euro a night is not exactly a bargain. However, the beautiful island and the superbe location make up for a lot.

Within a couple of Km from Moens Klint (if you're used to walking you can actually walk there from the B&B), this is a good starting point to explore the wonderfull nature in this South-East corner of Denmark.
We made a walk south to the coastline, followed the coast beneath the cliff until the staircase at the GeoCenter. From the GeoCenter we walked through Klinteskoven and finally back to the B&B by a meandering route that also brought us over the local hill called Kongsbjerg. In June/July when the orchids are blooming, we can highly recommend this.
It was a spectacular trip.
The Bakkegaarden B&B is quite a nice place to stay. We found the owners to be friendly and helpfull. Rooms are decorated by local artists. We were lodged on first floor in the main building. Common bathroom just across from our room (a second one downstairs). I could imagine the shared bathroom might be an issue if all rooms are occupied. There is a sink in each room.
The outside settings are spectacular. You can sit and enjoy a great view over the sea from the lawn-chairs they've put out.
Food is mostly ecologically grown and coming from local producers.
Remember to book in advance if you plan to eat dinner at Bakkegaarden.
They cook for the amount of people that book, so you cannot just pass by around dinner time.

Wonderful site, but NOT within walking distance of the white cliffs of Mon. The extra charge for sheets and pillow covers should have alerted me to the situation, as well as the "shared bath, private bath might be arranged." It was requested, but not available. The single toilet and shower on the second floor (a floor reached by a steep set of stairs that would challenge a 20-year-old, and effectively prevents luggage transport) was shared by FIVE rooms -- but each room has a sink. Different artists did paintings and wall-coverings, to varying degrees of success: some rooms were truly garish, and I would have refused to stay in them. My room was lightly decorated, but, perhaps with an artist's eye for lack of functionality, a row of antique-looking lights at the head of the bed prevented sitting up and reading in bed. A lovely setting, but the price -- average for a hotel with much better amenities -- did not reflect the available creature comforts. Think I'm a spoiled American? How about one soap pump in the shared toilet to be shared by five rooms? As the cordial hostess/artist said: "Oh, did you forget to bring your own soap and shampoo?" No, we didn't forget. Bakkegaard Gaestgiveri forgot. And no -- no additional soap was offered. Indoor camping at B&B.prices. The breakfast was OK.

Room Tip: Ask how many rooms share the toilet. Take to your room only what you need for an overnight stay. Bri...
