Very nice pub in the village of Maentwrog. Food was of an exceptionally high quality and at reasonable prices. So good was it that we visited on two separate occasions during our week in the area. Staff were always friendly and polite. The food was sometimes a little slow coming out, and they perhaps could have done more to reassure us it was on its way, however it was always worth the wait.

My brother and I stopped here for lunch on the way home from Criccieth. We had been there before last summer and had really enjoyed the Welsh Ale there. It was great to down a couple of pints of Evan Evans cwrw(beer) If you really enjoy FLAVOURSOME ale, I thoroughly recommend this one. We both opted for the smoked chicken as an" accompaniment " to the BEER (instead of the other way round Lol!) The chunky pieces of spicy meat with chips were very good but the Welsh Ale was divine. We shall certainly return for dinner in the near future as the menu is extensive and reasonably priced.

Stayed here whilst working at the nearby nuclear power station. I had intended to try a number of B&B's in the area and pick the best, but I don't need to try anywhere else. I will be staying here one night a week for around a year, and will enjoy every visit. The food and ale are really very good, with large, bright rooms. With a large and safe car park. A great find. Trust me.

Room Tip: The rooms at the rear have wonderful views.

Warm welcome from Simon and all the staff. Stayed one night very comfy bed, large room and
en-suite. Locals made us welcome in the bar where we enjoyed local Ales. We enjoyed the yummy breakfast in the dining room with views of the beautiful countryside. Also enjoyed chatting with other friendly travellers over dinner. Good menu choices and top class food. Great location great atmosphere we loved this old building. Simon was happy to fill us in on its history and could not have been more helpful. Good off road parking. Only wish we could book in again. But it's just to far from Australia....

So glad we were recommended to eat here - very friendly welcome from Simon and his team and delicious food. This is much more that pub food - excellent Linguini with Scallops and Prawns in a delicious pea, lemon and fennel sauce and an excellent traditional roast beef. The best pub food we have experienced in a long time and glad we found it at the start of our holiday so we can return before we leave for home.

We came last weekend for dinner having been recommended to eat here by the owners of the cottage we hired. This is a popular place and we could see why, the manager is a spin Doctor with the way he works seeing that every one is taken care of, our food was terrific for a pub/ hotel as we didn't expect gastro quality is this part of Wales at ordinary pub prices! We are both looking forward to coming back............but....Shoos h....Don't tell Egon Roney!

Spent the weekend at the grapes after it came highly recommended, its located in a quiet spot only ten minutes away from Porthmadog and the newly opened zip line in Llechwedd Slate Caverns.

Plenty of on site parking, good size and clean rooms, brilliant service, food and beer. A great place to stop if your looking to explore snowdonia, the welsh coast or go for outdoor activities.
