We were staying locally and were looking for somewhere to eat. The Grapes was local and recommended by our hosts. I was travelling with my Husband and 15 yr old son. Admittedly we only ate here once on a 2 day B&B tour of Snowdonia. We phoned ahead to book as it was a Saturday night. On arrival we found a space in the rear car park and walked through the bar to the lounge / restaurant, bought some drinks and announced that we had booked a table for dinner. Within a short while the restaurant manager greeted us, whilst at the same time spoke to the barmaid in Welsh. It was difficult to tell if he was talking about us or telling her off. After about 15 minutes we were shown through to the table. a small wooden affair, designed for 2 at best. The surface was sticky from previous customer use. The menu provided instructions on how to order at the bar. A reasonable selection of meals, we went for fish and chips, mushy peas £9.95, 1 pork spare rib and chips £9.95 and some beef in sauce with horseradish mash £9.95. Food was hot, tasty but overpriced for the portion size. We skipped starters and pudding at about £6.00 a go, paid and left. The interior was nicely decorated and the pub was busy. There was nothing really wrong with the experience apart from the price.
