Review of Danish Fort

Danish Fort
Reviewed 15 May 2014

Very well documented history of arrival of Danes, treaty with the King of Tanjore and subsequent trade off with the British East India Company. However, the museum as well as the fort has a neglected-almost-dilapidated air about it. Wish it were better preserved.

This is less of a fort more of an outpost, dont compare with the forts of North India. views are good

i liked the view of the ocean from the fort; the museum is just OK; the government can actually do better to make it look better and appealing

It is a snapshot in time and it has the feel that it has not changed so it's representative of the life of the period. There's nothing spectacular here but it seems completely authentic because of that perhaps. I have been many times and love the place for it's atmosphere.

the attendant/ ticket clerk refused to believe we were indian, wanted our national identity card as proof, not just a driving licence. when we did produce an adhar card print out, he wouldn't even look at it....i was too affronted to want to see anything in that sadela little town....a 1300km drive there was wasted....do not go if you do not have your adhar card with you, or look tamilian and speak it fluently to pass muster to be indian...and if this comment affronts anyones sensibilities, imagine how i felt there
