Though this site only has 3.5 stars right now on TripAdvisor, it was one of the highlights of our monthlong India trip. The museum inside is simply wonderful, and we enjoyed exploring the fort. The history written up about at the back of the museum was just a rare treasure. As Indians, we had learned less about the establishment of colonies by various nations around India, and more about the British rule over India. This gave us a deeper insight into what it meant to set up a colony in India when it was still an autonomous land of great wealth and glory. We will never forget the tale of the fake Prince of Migomme that convinced the Danes to set sail to Ceylon, and ultimately the kingdom of Thanjavur. Sure, the museum could use some renovation, but this museum is way better in its content than any flashy museum I've seen elsewhere in the world.
