Brilliant location, safe and hygienic place to stay. Great cafe and good places to see. Try the local fish market and get the villagers to make a meal for you. Superb weekend getaway. Suggested for anyone who likes a place away from the hustle of the city

If you ever decide to stay in this Neemrana property, we would suggest that you opt for the highest end rooms with the beach view. Simply gorgeous interiors, and breathtaking view. Nothing really of the beach that we haven't seen. But there's something about going to sleep and waking up with the sound of the waves. You can see the ships docked a little away from the coast... you can actually see stars. It's a beautiful, beautiful property that's well maintained and has a cozy, homely feeling about it.

We travelled with our elderly parents, whom we weren't sure would be able to use the spiralling stairs that lead up from the hallway on the ground floor. But they had a very useful, practical, old-school stairway that lead straight down to the pool/ restaurant area - and this was the stairway we used for the most part. So, if you're travelling with elders, you needn't worry about the best rooms being on the first floor! The staff were very courteous and considerate about helping us with tea at the first floor level for our parents. They just had to walk down for their meals.

There isn't one other place in Tranquebar where you can find a good meal. So, yes, you would be completely dependant upon the food in the property. It isn't a vast, exhaustive menu. Quite a limited menu for vegetarians - so you may not be able to stay beyond two days without getting bored of the food. Their food caters to foreign visitors -- it is safe and bland. The staff were more than happy to comply with our requests to make the food spicy; so no complaints at all :D

The beach with it's tide pool of sorts, with the Bungalow on the Beach and the old Danish Fort flanking the shore --- all make for a lovely getaway.

Room Tip: Rooms that are beach facing on the first floor.

As a student of history, my stay at the Bungalow on the Beach was like a piligrimage to a seventeenth century relic. It's a painstaking renovation of an archaic building, which is an iconic structure. Kudos to Neemrana for the tasteful and authentic re-construction. This is best for a quite family retreat for a colonial style, drinking, dining, swimming and lounging around the massive balconies, attended by a dedicated team of chefs and butlers. The property is not massive. Just 7 suites which will trasport you to the 17th century, with a few modern amenities, which are skillfully hidden and do not interfere with the authenticity of the setting.

What’s in a name?? Everything! You have a 17 th century birthday Bungalow bang on the beach. We stayed here a couple of nights with family including 3 toddlers. The management took care of us like family. The rooms were spotless, the food was delicious( i unfortunately didn’t get to meet the chef to convey my regards), the pool was clean. All in all it was a very comfortable stay for all of us. I would definitely go back. Thank you Mr Arun, Mr Jagadish and the entire team at neemranas .

Restored old Danish Governor's Bungalow.Beautifully located bungalow in amazing location, at cusp of dancing waves. Very comfortable rooms and high ceiling which doesn't require A/C even in summer because of gentle to heavy sea breeze.

Just open your windows, cross ventilation ensures pleasant stay through out the day. Closer proximity to sea can make life difficult with high humidity, but dip in waves or clean pool will ensure great time.

Very good restaurant with limited spread, however have remained true to original continental taste. No beer (Still wonder why not) Restaurant timings are limited and if we miss it nearest decent restaurant is 15 KMs away.

Very helpful staff and will accommodate most of your requests to their fullest.

We stayed in first floor and missed the sea facing rooms. However they have long corridor which will make experience of sun rise most memorable.

Best Moment of the stay: Full moon night in the terrace. Just spread your hands (Titantic style - preferably alone) and stand against the wind - seconds slip into minutes to hours. no words to describe.

Room Tip: sea view first floor rooms are teh best
