We stay in March and as the end of the season, it was price competitive.
While the localization may be good for the chair lift ( only 50 m) to first slope and bus stop to bring you to other station, the place is far out the center.
It may take 20-30 minutes down between nice small road but getting back was a little more tricky and can take 45 minutes.
Service from Mika, the Japanese lady and the front office guy (sorry I forget his name) was great. Always in good mood, willing to help and as it was the end of the season they check if the restaurant was open and make the booking for us. The Onsen recommendation was also nice and they both really make the difference in terms of general experience.
They deserve a Hi 5 , the rest of the team well not much impressive.

The food there... well we ate there one night, if you want to eat a frozen style chewy pizza then you are OK.
Breakfast was very simple, cereal, juice, toast bread, croissant, and on a hot side you order eggs = plain omelet or fried eggs for some reason scramble was not possible ?! and a choice of bacon or baked bean... I guess the selection could be improved.

To conclude, would I go back there, certainly for the friendliness of the staff mentioned and the charm of a little pension.

My son and I stayed here for a week in March, 2014. It was virtually the end of the ski season and was priced competitively as many other hotels had closed for the season. The staff were all nice and would engage if prompted. The room we had was good other than the overwhelming smell of kerosene, which was used for heating, making him nauseous each night, until we worked it out. It was better to sleep with no heating in the room than smell the kero as there was no venting to the outside. There were no blackout curtains so we woke at sunup which was earlier than ideal. The included breakfast was adequate. Whilst we ate there for dinner twice, it was twice too often. We did get the local bus early to go into the village and eat and got a $10 taxi back. It would be possible to walk down to the village, but perhaps not back with children, on the busy road.

Room Tip: A room on the right side may mean you get more sleep as there are no curtains and the sun woke us ea...

For Hakuba skiing, its a hands down great location, right near the main Sakko lift and cafe / village. If you have small children, its a 100% must to be within walking distance, or you'll age a few years in a few days. Many have to walk up steep hills or bus it, neither good.

Brilliant service led by the likes of Myka - who even pitched in on a little baby sitting (a one off but suggests the great intent).

Rooms are pleasant and the family room we had was perfect for our 5 pack family. There is a great dining room with fireplace for evening drinks and a great kids play room in the basement.

We stayed there in 2014 and 2013. One small issue was we thought the inclusive breakfast buffet was better in 2013, but it's still plenty good enough.

Room Tip: Get the family room if you have 2-3 kids.

What a great location. So close to happo-one lifts. ski hire is practically next door and no need to take hire gear back, just leave it at Luna and it will be Collected. Had no issues at all. Staff, service all tops. Thanks Julian

This was our first overseas snow trip and it was made all the more wonderful by the friendly staff at the Luna Hotel. From the very first day we were greeted by the manager Julian and offered a ride up the road as we were going for a stroll. He was very helpful and informative about all the offerings around the resort. We chose Luna Hotel for its location and price. It is located very close to one of the lifts of Happo One and buses frequent there too if you wanted to visit other mountains. What we liked about our stay was the included breakfast and there were laundry and drying facilities. There is a small convenience store just a minute walk across the road called Hakugin which was good for snacks. The hotel itself is nice; you get what you pay for, but the hospitality of the staff make up for that. I would like to thank Julian and his staff of 2014 for a memorable holiday.

6 mates and i stayed here for 12 nights, it couldnt have been better the food in the resteraunt was fairly western but all of it was beautiful. Of a mornig they had a full continental breaky which was plenty to get you out on the snow for the day. Of an evening you could go back and have a few beers on tap and head down to the games room or the fantastic staff could arrange just about anything for you to do, all you had to do was be ready in time for the taxi. One of the main happo lifts is only about a 30 second walk which made it all the more convenient too or you could catch a bus from there to the info centre in town and then anywhere in hakuba valley.

All in all this place was excellent, its not a 5 star resort but the hospitality and the location were excellent.

I will definitely be returning.

This was our first time staying at the Luna Hotel and we would definitely go back again. Maika and Zack where amazing, always so helpful and made us feel very welcome. It has a relaxed atmosphere and lots of hot water for a well earned shower at the end of a big day skiing or boarding. The rooms are comfortable and it is in a great position near the lifts and restaurants. We hired our equipment from Central Snow Sport, which is a couple of doors up from the Luna. Their prices were quite good and the position convenient if you had to change any of your gear. For the price and type of accomodation it is, we found it extremely good.
