Visiting Zamami Jima to accompany the sabani boats on a race, back to Naha, Okinawa, I only stayed overnight. It was a huge relief, to have an air conditioned room and shower, along with a place to sleep. This pension is similar to most minshuku I've stayed at before. Tatami mat and futons, with blankets and pillows were in the sleeping quarters. Shared shower facilities with hot and cold water provided soaps and shampoo. Outside, a few picnic tables are in the front yard and there are sinks available for washing diving gear, etc,. The meal provided for breakfast was Japanese style, which may surprise some Westerners, not used to small portions. It was fine with me. The facilities were kept clean and the staff were efficient and polite. The location, about a five minute from the port makes this an excellent place to stay when touring the island. Prices, seem a bit high for this type accommodation but, the islands are very popular with tourists so, I guess it's a matter of supply and demand.
