We truly enjoyed our stay at the studio hotel. Dinner and the complimentary, generous breakfast were both delicious. A highlight was a quick workout in the rooftop gym and a swim in the canopied swimming pool on the rooftop terrace. We enjoyed the view of the hillside and a beautiful sunset. Perfect place to rest before we left to see more of the country.

We loved this squeaky clean and immaculate hotel. The general manager and front desk were most welcoming and arranged day trips for us in and around San Jose. The decor and art work were stunning and we liked the Eco-sustainable features such as motion lights and recycling in the rooms. The restaurant food was delicious, although the service was a little slow at times. The manager agreed that his staff need to improve their English and he is addressing this immediately by arranging language classes. This hotel is looking to the future and striving to improve its already excellent service and we wish it a well deserved, bright and successful future.

Room Tip: Choose one overlooking the whole of San Jose and the mountains- the view is breathtaking

We stayed in this hotel for one night in December before embarking on a trip of Costa Rica and then again upon our return The hotel has beautiful art displayed throughout the hotel, but lacks friendliness and warmth. The staff although efficient and courteous are not welcoming. The rooms, have all the necessary requirements but just lack the small details like a gown and slippers that you expect in a 5 Star hotel. The most annoying aspect of this hotel is that it is very noisy. If your neighbour is listening to the TV very loud, you can hear it in your room. We had very early risings on both our stays to catch flights and did not enjoy a good nights sleep. However the hotel is close to some good restaurants which was very convenient as it is quite away out of San Jose.

I've stayed in thousands of hotels over the years and this is one of the best. Immaculate, great service and quiet. It is a little out of the way for some, but with a car, ideal. It is not a concierge type of hotel, but a great place to stay convenient to the airport.

Room Tip: Stayed in two and both were similar.

The Studio Hotel served as a bookend for our 9 day trip. We spent our first and last night there and it was quite a welcomed luxury by that last night! The pool is lovely with some views of the hills, though it could use some concrete steps or ledges to sit and relax--it's 4' deep with 2 ladders to make your way in.

The rooms are pretty standard, as far as we get in the US. The showers are consistently hot (a luxury after 3 other hotels with very unreliable water pressure and temps), the beds are incredibly comfortable, and the location outside the city created very quiet days and nights.

We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant because the prices were too high. We had breakfast the first morning before heading off to our next hotel, and that was lovely. They served it buffet style outside underneath the courtyard tree.

The hotel staff, by majority, was helpful and even helped us with a Thrifty car rental conversation translation as there was a bit of a language barrier. The only issue we had seemed to be with booking, where both times they wanted to put us in a room with double beds instead of one king (we were on our honeymoon). They switched us without fuss after we asked!

Overall, we'd stay there again before a flight out of San Jose!

We stayed here for 1 night after arriving at SJO.
It is very convenient for the airport being only about 10 or 15 minutes by car.
It is a good hotel with contemporary decor (and nice artwork) within a secure compound.
The dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was good.
The management and staff were very attentive without getting in our way.
We didn't try the rooftop pool but it looked very nice.
Only good things to say about it.

We stayed at Studio Hotel in Santa Ana prior to a recent cruise sailing from Puerto Caldera. We made arrangements for the hotel shuttle to meet us at the airport, and even though our flight was three hours late, the driver was waiting for us with a sign with our name when we exited baggage claim. The shuttle was a reasonable $25.

The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport in the small community of Santa Ana. There really is not a lot to see in Santa Ana, however, a walk into the little town is worth a morning stroll. The hotel is spotlessly clean with large, comfortable rooms. Staff members are very friendly and everyone speaks perfect English. The little restaurant has a nice breakfast buffet, albeit not massive. Great snacks in the evening. Don't miss the Chicken Taquitos.

We travel for a living (CruiseReportDotCom) and always seek out interesting and unique places to stay when on an assignment. The Studio Hotel will be at the top of our list when we return to Costa Rica.
