“Wow, unexpected and wonderful!”
Reviewed 21 December 2013

The Ringle Resort was recommended to me by one of the managers of the Hermosa bungalows. I have to say WOW... that was completely unexpected! We stayed for most of one night.. arriving around 1pm and checking out at 330am for an early morning flight home again.

As we were departing in the wee hours of the night we returned our rental car early and took a cab up to the resort. It's a little off the beaten path and about a 20 minute cab ride to the airport. Marco greeted us as the cab pulled up and helped us get our luggage into the library area while I checked us in. We booked into the family suite as I was travelling with my son and his girlfriend. While waiting we met one of the owners of the resort...he was so very kind to us and really went out of his way during our stay there (more in a bit).

Our room was immediately ready and they both escorted us to the room with the luggage in hand then took us on a tour of the resort. Because we were checking out in the wee hours and would miss breakfast, we were shown the kitchen area where there would be coffee and breakfast boxes ready to go at 3am. Our tour ended at the restaurant where we were given a welcome cocktail.. a tasty fruity blended drink...we were hungry so we decided to eat lunch too while we were there. We had pasta and had a very good grilled chicken dish between us ... all was excellent.

After lunch we decided to hang out at the resort rather than go exploring in town and promptly got into our swim suits. The pool was so beautiful and inviting.. but Oh soooo chilly. Take your breath away chilly. I didn't last long in the pool, the kids managed to stay in for a few minutes more than me. The view from the pool deck looks out to see all of San Jose.

There is a spa onsite but we didn't make use of it.

Back to the room. It was huge. We booked the family room which had a king size bed, living room, beautiful deck...connecting the main room to the second bedroom with two double beds was a huge bathroom. The room was tastefully decorated with 2 big flat screen TV's although we didn't watch TV preferring to relax and read our books. There is an in room fridge if you need it. The second room beds were comfortable..my only complaint was that the king bed was too hard for my liking.

We really enjoyed our dinner at the resort restaurant. Steak with Argentinian chimmi-churri, passion fruit mousse, crème Brule, daiquiri's and an amazing view of the city lights.

We called it a night around 9pm and the alarm went off at 230am for me.. at 3am the owner checked in with me to make sure we were up for our cab and to wish us well. Katia had arranged for our cab to the airport a few days earlier via my email request. We had brewed some coffee in the kitchen and picked up our breakfast boxes (with smiley faces drawn on them) which were filled with fruit and a yogurt. Considering the hour we were leaving I was surprised to get out to the entrance to meet the cab and find the owner out there giving us a hand on our way out.

I can't say enough about the service and attention we received during our brief stay here. One of the things the owner talked about while we were there was to start the day very early in San Jose and drive out to Limon for a sunrise breakfast on the Caribbean Coast...then drive across to the pacific ocean side to watch the sunset on the same day.. next visit to Costa Rica I'll be staying at the Ringle resort and maybe watching the sun rise and set on opposite coasts.

Thank you again to all the folks at the Ringle Resort.

We were here in the off-season, and the only people that seemed to be staying at the resort. We had a wonderful lunch and breakfast overlooking San Jose. The room was clean and the staff was willing to help us with any tours we wanted to do. Would highly recommend- just one thing, pool wasn't heated.

Thank you for mentioning the temperature of the pool. The issue regarding the pool has to do with its depth, which reaches a stunning 15 feet at its deepest point. This helps keep the water a little colder than most pools. Our newest upgrade to the facility will be implementing a simple but ingenious device that gradually heats up the pool water through a small tube throughout the day, using the natural heat of the sun. The pool area is a personal favorite of mine; a place so magnificent and breathtaking you'd wish you could stay there forever, never having to leave. We are happy you got to share in this experience, and we hope you come back soon to visit us again here at the Ringle!

We stayed at Ringle Resort after our flight to Costa Rica from Toronto, Canada and what a wonderful stay it was! Our room was huge and had a walkout to the pool. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant at the hotel had fantastic food!! The grounds to this resort are the best manicured hotel gardens that we have ever seen. For a relaxing break in San Jose anytime, this is a perfect place. Reasonable room prices, wonderfully clean rooms and beautiful setting!
On a final note -- there is a wild animal rescue/refuge right across the street from this hotel. Do plan to check it out if you love animals/wildlife. We saw snakes, monkeys, parrots and so much more there and just happened to notice it when our cab was driving to the hotel. Of course we had to check it out the next day and we were so happy we did!

Room Tip: We didn't check out any other rooms but the Master Suite was fantastic!!

Thank you for such a great review! We love when customers get involved enough to actually take pictures and really provide a true sense of what its like to stay at the Ringle Resort. Furthermore, we must say so ourselves - our specialized force of gardeners - are top notch and we love them for all the great work they do. They ensure we all get to enjoy the beautiful, lush, and stunning gardens of the Ringle Resort. As for the food, our chef and his crew are amazing and well trained as well. Its a true pleasure working with so many great people, and its what helps ensure our consistency in delivering such a great experience time and again to all our valued guests.

After 3 weeks of travelling all over Costa Rica, we needed a place to relax and unwind before heading back home and back to reality. As soon as we entered the hotel/resort we felt better already.
We booked a master suite for 5 nights. The bedroom has a fantastic king bed. Great matrass and lovely pillows. Large bathroom with a rain shower and a regular shower and good water pressure.
We also had a separate living room with comfy couches and even a small bar with 2 stools. Tv in the livingroom and bedroom.

Breakfast was nice, but basic. Fresh fruits, bread, butter and jam, orange juice and coffee or tea.

Pool is very nice. The view is awesome. Looking down on the outskirts of San Jose is just great. At night you are able to see all the lights.

We felt very safe in this property. Staff is very friendly and will help you where they can. It felt like a home away from home, just what we needed!

Food at the restaurant on site was good, but a bit more expensive. We had dinner at a restaurant/bar close by, named Cebolla Verde. Good stuff.

Also did a day tour ( with rental car) to Poas volcano with a nice crater lake. A lot of things can be done on day trips.

All and all......we would definately advice people to go here. You get a lot for a fair price.
SIMPLY THE BEST!

Room Tip: The master suite is worth the extra money in our opinion.

We have traveled to San Jose many times, this time a friend suggested the Ringle to us. We were amazed at the entire property! Even though it was green season and it was a bit slow it was great for our family to pretty much have the run of the place. Katia took care of our every need and put us in the guest house. Great service from begining to end, food was fantastic, value was without compare. It is a ways from the airport, but in the middle of the shopping area so it worked out great for us. I will tell you that we will not stay anywhere but the Ringle on our trips through San Jose.

We love hearing about the great times families have when they come to the Ringle. Many folks are pleasantly surprised to find out we are a 5 minute drive from the best shopping mall in Costa Rica; the Multiplaza. After a fun shopping spree, customers will typically return to the Ringle for a great dinner and a relaxing night with a nice bottle of wine and good conversation. For families, we highly recommend the casita OR suite 102. The suite 102 has the option of an adjoining room with an additional 2 beds, making the total bed count 3 which can sleep a total of 6 people. The casita is a separate house right next to the main building which has its own kitchen, dining table, living room and 2 spectacular bedrooms, each with there own bathroom. Thank you for staying at Ringe Resort and we hope to be able to serve you again in the near future.

I had to spend some time in the San Jose area recently and Ringle Resort was absolutely perfect. I spend most of my time in the mountains and on the beaches, so being in the busy city was a bit of a shock, and Ringle was a beautiful, luxurious getaway. The entire staff was overly friendly and helpful. The casita was comfortable and clean and the prices are awesome. I would absolutely recommend Ringle to anyone staying in the area whether you're stuck in the city for a night, need an escape from the noise and crowds, or if you're there for vacation or business.

Room Tip: The two bedroom, two bathroom casita is perfect for 2-4 people. Very large living and dining areas...

One of the greatest features at Ringle Resort is our close proximity to the busy city, yet we are completely tucked away in our own sanctuary right off the major road. The resort is always quiet and peaceful, and when you stop to take it all in you'll hear the sounds of birds chirping and small wildlife running around the property. In addition, you will enjoy world class service as our managers and staff will go out of their way to ensure your experience at the Ringle is a very memorable one. We thank you for choosing our resort as your city destination, and we hope to see you again shortly.
