“wonderful staff and environment!!”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

Recently stayed here 8 nites. Fabian, Heiner and Tatiana, were incredibly helpful, gracious and knowledgeable. Couldn't ask for better service. The hotel is beautiful, the surroundings and furnishings are so warm and comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace is magical and a great way to start your day. Felt safe and tranquil. Only thing missing was a bath, or if the pool were heated I would have swam. Great spot, will return with my family and make this a regular stop while visiting Costa Rica. Dont miss out on this gem!!

Room Tip: Stayed in rm 6, it was large and clean and comfortable, beds are a bit hard tho.

What a deeply enjoyable and relaxing experience I had here. I was fortunate to just stumple onto Hotel Posada Canal Grande. I found that I stepped into a nurturing caccoon of hospitality and graciousness. This is often what is missing in the larger more coporate hotels. The furnishings were of the highest quality in Mediterranian style accompanied by original art work from around the word in both the lobby areas and rooms. They mean it here when they say "Let us know if there is anything you need". Coffee brought up to you? No problema! I was lucky to find Hotel Posada Canal Grande.

Room Tip: All rooms had a beautiful view as it is on the top of a small hil. FIrst floor of the two floors had...

We missed a flight at the San Jose airport and needed to find a place to stay on short notice. I found Hotel Posada Canal Grande online and quickly booked a room with zero expectations. Upon arrival, we were so pleasantly surprised that we actually wished we could stay longer! The hotel is beautiful and the staff is absolutely charming. Even our cab driver asked us how we had found the place as he had not been before and was impressed by the setting. We settled into our room and then enjoyed a cocktail while watching a lovely sunset over the surrounding hills. We happened to arrive on a Sunday night when all of the local restaurants had closed early. For a very reasonable price the hotel was offering a dinner to guest to accommodate for the lack of local dining options. Our meal was served at a private table on the lovely terracotta porch outside of our room. It was romantic and delicious! If ever we are in San Jose again, we will definitely be staying at Hotel Posada Canal Grande. Thank you for the great stay!

Need a safe and tranquil place as a layover or a 2 wk stay as I did, this is it. Management is excellent & eager to make your stay a personal one, just like going to Grandparents home. I roam the world and when I discovered this jewel, its a very uncommon place compared to the others in CR. For the price, you might find another one but this one is very unbeatable. The personnel from the GM to the lady's that clean, are like those lovable people that you want to spend time with. The food they prepare is what your Grandmother would have given you. Its really quiet, off the path, first class food outside this place is of world class. Either you rent a car or take a bus or taxi, its all available. Try coming in the dry season.

Room Tip: room # 1 or 12 or over the pool, actually, they are all good depending on you personal need.

This is one of my favorite places to stay in the San Jose area. It's way off the beaten path in Santa Ana, yet close to everything we go to San Jose for. I love the feel of the place, it's very "tranquilo" as they say here. The owner has brought in so much furniture from exotic places, it's wonderful to explore. The courtyard around the pool has multiple ceremonial poster beds piled high with cushions where you can lounge, so comfy and cool! Breakfast is included in the rate and is prepared to order. Really good, too. The staff is very friendly and so helpful! There is a restaurant on site, but it's been closed when we go. Luck of the draw, I guess, because we hear it's good too. The place is spotless, and my only complaint would be that the bed was pretty uncomfortable. I've always stayed in Room #1, so like the Three Bears, I might try another one the next time!

Room Tip: Other than the bed, I like room #1 because it is on the end and you can eat breakfast right outside...

This hotel came highly recommended to me and after staying there I understand why. The rooms and common areas are spacious, clean and comfortable. The grounds and pool area are lovely and well tended and the staff is beyond great. We had a lovely dinner there with wonderful service and food and the stuff happily provided everything we needed and wanted. I look forward to my next stay there.

We are more than glad that you were recommended and that you had a great stay and were amazed by our entire environment, like always our staff will be willing to make from your stay the most enjoyable possible. You can have a lovely dinner, it is better if requested in advance here at the hotel and it is different than the restaurant down below us. We look forward to see you next time and we hope that your great experience spread the word of mouth to continue recommending us to the new travelers to come and enjoy it like you did.
