Our flight from the USA arrived really late on December 5th and there was Steve - right where he indicated he would be........waiting for us. He took us back to the B&B and immediately made us feel welcomed. It was dark and we really didn't have a chance to experience the house in its entirety - but once you walk into the courtyard - you are meet with a feeling of satisfaction. Our daughter fell in love with the very well behaved little dogs and we wandered out to the balcony and could view the beautiful stars and deep canyon below.

We stayed in the Canopy room which is very nice and I must say that every bit of space is utilized so well. They had set up a separate bed for our daughter and everything was warm and inviting.

In the morning, we smelled the aroma of coffee and made our way down to the dining room - the house is unique - not stuffy or boring - quirky features, unusual paintings, and the decor is just plain fun. If there was no decor at all, the beautiful views of the canyon and greenery would be more than enough!! Steve was busy putting breakfast together and my daughter was thrilled when she ordered chocolate chip pancakes and Steve quickly agreed! (So my husband decided he would jump on the bandwagon as well.......). All of it was very accomodating each and EVERY morning.

We enjoyed chatting with the other guests in the afternoon as well as the discussions and interaction with Steve & Rita. This is a great couple. Very laid back and easing going. Rita was instrumental is helping us to set up day trips with our guide, Luis. He is really knowledgeable and helpful as well. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone visiting in the area.

I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone. We have traveled and stayed in many B&B's and this was a fabulous experience. We would not hesitate to return. Our only disappointment is that we could not stay longer!! Go, enjoy and see for yourself how great this property is!!

We found out about Casa Bella Rita through trip advisor and it was everything we hoped for and more.

Steve and Rita are incredibly sweet people who made us feel right at home. I'll start from the beginning.

Steve picked us up from the airport and we rode with him to the B&B. I have to be honest, when you first get up to the building its not very impressive as there is a massive wall that prevents you from seeing into the grounds of the home. However, once you open the gate, its like a secret garden inside. The atrium is full of flowers and a beautiful fountain. As we walked in we were greeted by Rata and Topo (rat and mouse) and by Rita, the B&B's namesake. Rita gave us a tour of the home and showed us to our room. Since we were on our honeymoon they put a bottle of champagne, a fruit plate, and tons of flowers in our room for when we arrived.

We were really hungry on arrival and after polishing off the fruit plate we were in the mood for some local cuisine. Steve recommended a place right down the street (Meme's) and even wrote down some of his favorite dishes. We ordered everything he suggested and it was fabulous. Especially the Bavaria Negras.

We spent the evening drinking champagne, looking over the gorge and chatting with a couple other guests. Breakfast the next morning was delicious french toast with fresh juice and coffee. Steve drove us to the airport right after so we could catch our flight to Osa (see our review of Bosque del Cabo).

Overall it was a great experience and next time we're in Costa Rica we'll plan to spend a couple of nights with Steve and Rita.

Besides the obvious values of cost and location, Steve and Rita put all others to shame with hospitality, food, and atmosphere. I can't imagine having stayed anywhere else for our visit to the area. On this same trip, we stayed at a 5-star luxury ecolodge in Osa as well as a B and B cabin near La Fortuna. Casa Bella Rita was my favorite, hands down...

Perks that are priceless: guaranteed transport to and from the airport; sweet dogs to greet you; recommendations you can trust.

a beautiful bed and breakfast but more importantly steve and rita are true gems. steve picked up my family at the airport and waited for the third person with us for 2 hours at the airport, then helped with car rental as we followed him back to the house. rita had previously corresponded on numerous occasions with suggestions for planning our trip to costa rica despite the fact that we were only staying one night with them. the rooms are extremely comfortable, clean and uniquely decorated. steve made whatever we wanted for breakfast and offered to provide other meals as well.

Casa Bella Rita is the ultimate boutique Bed & Breakfast to spend a few dayst. It overlooks a deep green canyon with a river flowing at the bottom with farmlands on the other side. The rooms are modern and include extras such as robes and mini-bar. There is cable tv and internet available for those of you who cannot bear to be away from the modern world.

The owners and their 2 little canine companions are fabulous hosts who make you feel right at home. (Rita also makes great vodka margaritas). They leave you alone when you want to be alone and also make great company when you want company.

It is truly a delightful place. Word of mouth is traveling fast and you should not hesitate to book now if you want to stay at Casa Bella Rita. Having stayed at many places in Costa Rica -- I suspect that reservations will soon be hard to come by at Casa Bella Rita unless made weeks in advance. Steve and Rita have truly achieved Pura Vida at Casa Bella Rita.

I told the B&B ownder that I wasn't going to write a Tripadvisor review because there isn't much more accolades that can be heaped on this property. I then agreed to at least post some new pictures of the pool verandah, since we were some of the first to stay there since a new coat of paint. Now I am having trouble finding any good photos, but I decided to write a short review anyway.

We arrived in the early evening and were planning on going out to eat, but once the owners offered up a bevy of different beverages, and their other frequent guests (who are really more like friends) asked if we wanted to order pizza, we decided that was the BEST option. We had a great time eating, drinking, bonding with their two dogs and speaking with the other guests.

We had also prearranged for a dinner on the second night. I provided a list of what we didn't like (which Rita had great fun chiding me about) and they planned accordingly. They invited some of their friends for dinner that night and we felt like part of the family. That is their whole gig! Make you feel like you are staying with some old friends or favorite family members. It works for us.

Be prepared to feel, as your are driving to the property, "what the heck have we gotten ourselves into?" It was so weird to feel like you are driving on some private Tico property and are about to check into a corrugated metal shack, only to be ushered into an absolute oasis lodging. You will have a sigh of relief as you officially check in. I wonder if the owners are so engrained in the Costa Rican culture and environment to recognize that the location and road in might really cause some culture shock to first time visitors. In any case, the accolades heaped on this property are warranted and we will definitely stay there again if we go to Costa Rica.

We stayed with Steve and Rita for 2 days when we first arrived in Costa Rica. It was a wonderful stay and we highly recommend it. Casa Bella Rita's rooms we spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Steve picked us up at the airport, they were very helpful with arrangements for tours and arranged a great guide and delivered us to another airport on departure. The food and drinks were great. They really made us feel at home and we enjoyed the vist with them. I am missing the bavaria negra and queso frito! We will definately stay here again!
