Description: Food, wine, luxury accommodation and a genuine welcome await. Just one hour from Adelaide and set atop a gentle hill, Appellation at The Louise is highly regarded as one of Australia's finest restaurants led by chef Ryan Edwards. With a passion for real, fresh local ingredients, Ryan and his team are guided by the rhythms of the seasons - harvesting from their kitchen garden, baking their own breads, butchering and curing their own meats - and see wine and food as the most natural of partners. A four course seasonal menu is available nightly, except on a Tuesday when it's Local's Night where our chefs choose your three course set menu. An award-winning wine list of over 400 listings celebrating local artisans, emerging stars and established masters offers much choice to guests. Surrounded by vineyards in a truly memorable setting, Appellation is a dining destination worthy of a detour. Appellation is co-located with The Louise luxury vineyard retreat.

Beautifully presented, space between the tables, attentive staff. We were lucky enough to have booked dinner for 2 nights. The first night we chose from the a la carte selection but the second night it was 'locals' night, which was 'pot luck'! What this actually means is the chef is trying out new dishes to add to the new menu & we lucky customers get to try them first. We didn't know what was coming but had different meals presented to us so that we could get more to taste. The chef at Appellation must rate as one of the best anywhere in Australia. The inventive dishes are amazingly tasty & so creatively presented. We just wished we had space for more!! Absolutely wonderful.

We had the chefs menu with matching wines. The food was amazing - The amuse bouche and dessert were highlights and the amount of food over the 5 courses was perfect. Wines were also perfectly chosen and complimented the food very well. Only negative would be that it took around 45 mins for the first round food to come out... we were slightly hungry so were possibly a little impatient!

My wife and I wanted a nice weekend away to spoil ourselves. We certainly got spoilt. Appellation treated us royally with a delicious five course menu, supplemented perfectly with stunning wines. Absolutely loved it.

We did the 5 course degustation with matching wines. The food and wine were amazing. Only complaint was that there seemed to be a little miscommunication between the kitchen and the sommelier, as we'd have our next glass of wine way before our next dish arrived, so it was hard not to drink it all before the food came.

We dined at Appellation whilst staying at The Louise over Easter 2014. To be honest we didn't go with high expectations as we had read some poor reviews on Urbanspoon. However we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the degustation meal and my partner did the matching wines. The produce was fresh and tasty. And the serving sizes of each course was very generous, especially for a degustation. The wines matched really well with all the food, and we were exposed to many different wineries that we wouldn't have ever heard of. For example, a stand out was the Small Fry Reisling from a small biodynamic vineyard in the Barossa. It was lovely and I have been trying to get my hands on a bottle since returning back to Melbourne. One thing that took away from the experience was no white table cloth. We thought for a restaurant of that callibre, the tables would have white table clothes but it didnt and it brought down the clientele a litte.
