Description: Food, wine, luxury accommodation and a genuine welcome await. Just one hour from Adelaide and set atop a gentle hill, Appellation at The Louise is highly regarded as one of Australia's finest restaurants led by chef Ryan Edwards. With a passion for real, fresh local ingredients, Ryan and his team are guided by the rhythms of the seasons - harvesting from their kitchen garden, baking their own breads, butchering and curing their own meats - and see wine and food as the most natural of partners. A four course seasonal menu is available nightly, except on a Tuesday when it's Local's Night where our chefs choose your three course set menu. An award-winning wine list of over 400 listings celebrating local artisans, emerging stars and established masters offers much choice to guests. Surrounded by vineyards in a truly memorable setting, Appellation is a dining destination worthy of a detour. Appellation is co-located with The Louise luxury vineyard retreat.

We opted for our own choice rather than the chef's selection / degustation. We were given a small appetiser complimentary, I opted for quail entrée, my wife the beetroot & fruit. Both were very tasty and well presented. My kangaroo was tender and although the sauce was rich it mixed well with the pate. My wife's poached lobster on risotto was to die for. Ample size and all went together well. Washed it down with a local (Eden Valley) riesling at a reasonable $46. I finished with a warming irish coffee and my wife just loved the cheesecake and meringue - lots of small pieces and not at all like she expected.
The chef changes menu daily to suit the available fresh local produce. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful.
Naturally the wine selection was extensive but we preferred to keep it simple this time and concentrated on the food. All of our selections paid off - we'll certainly be back to sample some of the others. A top class restaurant.

Had an amazing evening with our daughter and her fiancée to celebrate her graduation. The food was amazing, brilliant produce, flavours and combinations, excellent service and ambient surroundings - it was a a memorable dining experience, would love to repeat again soon.

We had the Tuesday night Chef's selection where we each received an entree, main and dessert for $65 approx. which represented good value for fine dining.
I prefer a table with table cloths and was surprised to find bare tables. Wait staff very attentive and lots of service

The 5 course meal was divine and the wines to match were magical. The staff knew their stuff and were friendly and enthusiastic.

Fantastic food, fantastic wine, brilliant experience. This is a truly excellent restaurant. Was very wary after an awful experience at Hentley Farm but this restored our faith in good restaurants. Sommelier was brilliant and took time and care to give great advice and recommendations for local wineries to visit. Liked the food so much we went back twice in the same week. Went on a Tuesday where the chef tries out new dishes, degustation style so you get no choice but price is heavily reduced, loved everything - some things better than others but even the less favourite dishes were faultlessly put together and totally understandable. Amazingly good. If you're into degustation skip Hentley Farm's outrageous cost and have a better cooked, better thought experience for less than half the money and ten times the quality. Will definitely be coming back on my next visit to Barossa to stock up the wine cabinet!
