Had another great holiday at this well equipped and maintained cave house, this time with two couples on their first visit. Not really knowing what to expect I think they were all very pleased both with the cave itself and the views, peace and tranquility. We had every meal at the cave outside, and sat late into the evening, after the magnificent sunsets, chatting and sampling the local wines.
Day one we went to the top of and then round mt. Jabalcon, then into Baza for lunch (menu di dia €4.90, including drinks!) and to stock up on food and drink. Day 2 the gorge walk at Castril and a more luxurious mdd for one couples wedding anniversary. Day 3 easy day, local walk. Day 4 holiday highlight, trip to Granada, Alhambra, 90 minutes away and great evening meal at local restaurant.. Day 5 Orce for walk around the village and speciality lamb lunch at El Mimbrera , excellent, followed by swim at the fish pool . Last day Castillejar market in the morning and a couple of hours in the hot springs at lake Negratin in the afternoon . Sounds a hectic schedule, but was very relaxed really, lots of stops for cervesas and tapas, or lovely coffees sat in the sunshine, particularly good at el Rincon in the village. Will definitely be back.

We spent a week in the larger cave home in mid september and were absolutely delighted with the accomodation. The cave is well appointed and very comfortable. The location is superb and it was great sitting out till late watching the sun set over the hills. Make sure you use the bakery in the village as the bread is very good.

There is plenty to see round about. we went walking round the village and river, the Castrill gorge walk is a must as is a day in Granada looking round the Alhambra. The village of Orce is well worth a visit with its castle (open at weekends) and the Restaurante La Mimbrera has a speciality lamb dinner that melts in the mouth.

For views drive up Jabelcon and on the way down take the circular road round the mountain.
